Chapter 85 - Tests I

"What's that?" Henry asked, feeling a weird level of unease as he stared at the mud beings that were staring at them.

"Golems…. Each one should have your relative level of strength and power output but not your powers" Steve explained.

"So this thing is an imperfect replica of us?" a new voice was heard.

Turning to its source, Steve saw one of the S-ranks… they had been quiet up until now for some reason or he was just too focused on or distracted by the true nature of Jin Woo's abilities.

"Yes and naturally I can't fall short of my junior so… they move too… You can test yourself against them" Steve said as he made the golem move towards each of their originals.

"What do you mean?" Henry asked as he saw the golem version of himself walk to his front

"They each have power somewhat equal to yours… I can't exactly measure your strengths just by looking at you" Steve replied honestly.

He knew it was excessive for a demonstration but he was enjoying every single bit of it.

Did he need to one-up Jin Woo? Absolutely not.

But did he want to do so? God knows, Yes.

Both of them came from the same dungeon and were changed by the same monsters. He felt it an insult if his demonstration was below him.

"That's enough," Gunhee said after a while

"Okay," Steve replied as he immediately returned it all back to normal.

He did want to see what would happen if each of them fought themselves but the Chairman had spoken.

If he had to speak out then this wasn't the place for such things so he had to respect himself to focus on the right thing to do as of now.

"Is that all you can do?" Henry suddenly spoke up.

"You're not impressed?" Steve asked as he turned to look at the man weirdly.

The Chairman was complaining that his demonstration was excessive and here he was asking if that was all he could do.

"No, That was indeed impressive but I don't think you want him taking down that your ability is making statues or golems" Henry explained

"Oh that makes sense, I can manipulate any material I want" Steve replied as he reached out into the air as a Sword materialized in his hand.

Steve immediately grabbed the sword as he begun swinging up and down but his cool demonstration did nothing to the group who were all shocked by the new display.

He had created something from nothing.

"How did you that?" Henry asked, making Gunhee turn to him.

"Our job is to ask what his ability is not ask how he does what he does" Gunhee said as he immediately motioned for the tests to move on to the next section.

"Okay thank you to you both for your demonstration, Now if you'll follow me, let's get the physical and other tests" the examiner said as he turned around and began walking.

"I overdid it, didn't I?" Steve asked the Chairman as they walked.

"The sword was okay but the Golems, there was no need for that?" Gunhee replied.

"Huh?" Steve said as though he didn't know what he did.

It seems he was a little too happy to display his abilities. He couldn't be blamed, his abilities had come so far that he had to showcase it in some way or the other.

He had spent so much time in that godforsaken gate figuring out his abilities and developing them to what they were now that there was no way in heaven or hell that he wouldn't show it off.

It was like buying a Lamborghini and leaving it in your garage because you don't want to show it off.

Deciding to stop thinking about it, Steve focused on what was to come next, the Physical Test.

Now that he thought about it, it was weird that in the original test, they didn't bother to ask the person to demonstrate their abilities.

They just went straight to the physical test and then the mana test. He didn't know why that was because the demonstration does set things up for a better evaluation.

They all followed behind the examiner who led them to the next room which held several heavy-duty equipment.

It looked like a gym but one meant for superheroes… There was a very large thread in the centre of the room, a large weight-lifting section with exaggerated weights.

Above that, Steve could feel, see and even taste a lot of mana in the room. All of the equipment was enchanted.

It made sense that they would after all no hunter above the A-rank was normal.

This was the true test… It allowed for better accuracy in categorising the hunters but even so, the cataloguing of hunters wasn't exactly as accurate as they thought it would be with all of these.

Baek Yoonho for example, is widely considered one of the weakest S-ranks in the world… Well, Korean S-ranks were the weakest in the world.

But that's not the point, the Point is that should Baek Yoonho let loose completely, surrendering himself to the beast then he would absolutely demolish Choi Jong-in who is recognized as the Ultimate Soldier.

The ranking was flawed but could anyone truly measure the power level of another person? They all entered the room and as soon as they did, Steve immediately sensed several extra presences.

However, he didn't say anything about them, if he could sense them so could the Chairman and possibly Jin Woo. None of them reacted to it so who was he to do so?

"The Physical tests will commence soon, you can use the lockers over there to change into more appropriate attires for this part" The Examiner said while pointing towards a certain section of the room.

With a nod, Steve and Jin Woo began walking towards the locker room to change, it was assumed that some clothing had already been arranged so they didn't need to worry much.
