Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

The police, forensics and  medical team was all over the scene, each team trying to figure out what happened there and what each team can offer in terms of solving the mystery. Anthony was being carried into the ambulance but his mind was somewhere else. He was trying to recall each and every situation, decision and action that had to today. Two years ago he got a letter from his brother while he was on tour abroad and this was the end of his military service. The letter was to inform him of his parents passing and had to fly home for the funeral and without any hesitation he was flew home to attend the funeral. The letter  said they died in a car accident while going home from their restaurant. His brother Matthew was anxious all the time as if he was hiding something and this didn't escape Anthony's notice. After the funeral Anthony went to the command base to a few weeks to be to grieve and came back home and found Matthew seated on the drinking  as if he wanted to forget something that weighed heavily on him. Anthony tapped his shoulder and he jumped up a gun in his and pointed at him his index finger already on the trigger.

"Woh! Woh! Hey hey calm down it's only me!" He exclaimed as he stepped back looking at his brother in astonishment. Questions flooded his mind since when did his brother start carrying a gun? And why does he have it?

"Jesus Tony! You shouldn't sneak up on people like that, I almost shot you," he said turning the gun away from his brother. He took a sip of beer that he was having and sighed with relief as he dropped himself back on the couch care free.  Anthony was in shock as he watched him, he walked and sat  on the couch across from Matthew as he continued to stare at him but Matthew was in another world as he looked up to the ceiling.

"Since when did you start carrying a gun?" He asked sitting upright on the couch.

"I didn't know you cared what I do with my life?"  He said still looking up at the ceiling.

"Did mum and dad know? What the hell happened here? Because nothing here makes sense," he said as he stood and turned to at the portrait of his family hanged on the wall.

Matthew sits up and looks at him and then follows his gaze to the portrait.

"They always talked about you, how proud they were to have as their son but as for me I was always a disappointment the son they never wanted," he takes a big gulp of beer and slowly swallows it. Anthony was surprised to him say something like that.

"Why would you say something horrible like that about our parents? They loved you and they were always proud of you, we both know that," he said trying to reassure him but Matthew was not convinced.

"You know nothing, you weren't here to begin so stop trying to be the good brother it's too late for that now," he said as he stood up and started walking away from Anthony.

"I suggest you go back to the military , don't worry I will take charge of things here, I am afraid if you stay here I will be burying you next," he said without looking back as he walked out of the house, hopped onto his bike and drove off. Anthony was dumbfounded, but he noticed what Matthew had said and he wondered what he meant. He sat down and took one of beer on the table and started drinking but he saw the logo of his their restaurant on the table and he picked it up stared at it for a before putting the beer down and started walking towards the door. He opened the garage and found his truck was still in there as he left, he looks for and  finally starts the truck and takes it out of the garage and drives off towards the restaurant.
