The children stared intently at the food on the table, it had been many years since they had seen such a rich meal.
"Eat," Director Shen said. None of the children picked up their chopsticks, instead, they all looked at Lan Xin Ai: "Sister Lan, you eat first."
Left with no choice, Lan Xin Ai picked up her chopsticks, took a bite of a potato, and said: "I've started eating, you should too."
"Sister Lan, eat some meat."
A little girl placed a large piece of braised pork into Lan Xin Ai's bowl. Feeling a lump in her throat, she took a small bite: "Delicious."
Only after Lan Xin Ai spoke did the children start eating, serving Director Shen before beginning their own meals.
