Ming Mei completely ignored Beitang Chuxin, turning to engage Kang Chen in conversation instead.
She asked Zhao to brew her another cup of tea and then, holding the cup in her hand, asked Kang Chen, "Do we leave after eating?"
Kang Chen looked up and gave her a warm smile, "I've been with you all morning. I'll leave in the afternoon."
Ming Mei was currently uncertain about what Kang Chen was thinking. Had he heard, or not heard…or had he seen her forcing Beitang Chuxin to kneel and thought of her as cruel and pitied Beitang Chuxin?
Taking a sip of her tea, Ming Mei casually said, "That's perfect timing, Zhao mentioned that a cold spell is coming and I still don't have any warm clothes... What should we do?"
Kang Chen reached out and ruffled her hair, "I've been too busy lately and overlooked this. After we finish eating, I'll take you shopping..."
