Kang Chen quickly snapped wide awake and suddenly sat up.
Because he moved too forcefully, he nearly collided with Ming Mei. Just in time, he reached out a hand to steady her.
"We need to go right away..." Kang Chen said seriously.
Ming Mei hummed arrogantly, glaring at Kang Chen. Noticing his fatigued face and the dark circles under his eyes, she challenged, "What were you doing last night? Didn't you sleep at all? If I hadn't been sleeping beside you all night, I would've suspected you were sneaking off behind my back."
They'd agreed to reconcile and marry at dawn. Ming Mei had been full of anticipation, eagerly awaiting the break of day, only to be prodded awake by Kang Chen.
She had expected him to say, "Darling, wake up, let's get remarried."
But as it turned out...
