What was Mr. Chen doing all alone in the office so late at night?
Then he paced about for another half hour. It was almost nine o'clock.
Unable to wait any longer, Huo Er knocked, "Mr. Chen, are you in there? I... I'm coming in, okay?"
Still, there was no answer from inside.
Gathering his courage, Huo Er pushed the door open and happened to see Kang Chen walking out of the break room. He seemed to have taken a shower; his hair was still dripping and his clothes had spots of dampness.
But a glance at his face gave Huo Er quite a fright.
Kang Chen's eyes were a horrifying red, crisscrossed with blood vessels, with dark shadows underneath. His complexion was ghastly pale, and he was in a terrible state. It was clearly apparent he had not slept all night.
Huo Er instantly felt he had been negligent. After all, he was personally responsible for taking care of Kang Chen.
Speeding over towards him, Huo Er said, "Mr. Chen... You didn't rest last night, did you?"
