The old man's expression changed instantly, realizing that something was off. Kang Chen was his son, and he knew him well. This stubborn and proud kid wouldn't make such a comment unless something was about to happen.
He asked, "What do you mean? Are you implying... that something's going to happen?"
Kang Chen shook his head, "No, I just hope she'll be happier, and not procrastinate. Will you promise me this or not?"
Kang Chen was well aware that Ming Mei, at times, seemed to put on a bit of a show in front of him. Basically, she was slightly fake. But it was not the same with the old man; she earnestly treated him like a father.
So Kang Chen was worried. If Ming Mei's real identity was indeed… intensely related to the UC and N2, how would the old man see her then?
Kang Chen didn't want Ming Mei to be upset.
He just wanted to prepare as much as possible before anything happens.
So if it did happen, they wouldn't be... helpless.
