After stepping out of the residential area, Mu Tianying helped Tianxue get into a taxi and told her, "Give me a call when you get there". Meanwhile, he noted down the taxi's license plate.
Once the taxi had driven off, he glanced over at Wanqing and started walking forward, hand in hers.
Confused, Wanqing asked, "Aren't we going home?"
Mu Tianying, his head down, walked very slowly as if taking a leisurely stroll. Not daring to disturb him, Wanqing could do nothing more than follow along. Even her hand which he was holding felt trapped.
After ten long minutes of walking, Mu Tianying's phone rang. Just by listening, Wanqing could tell it was Tianxue calling from school.
Mu Tianying hung up the phone, looked down at Wanqing, and suddenly stopped in his tracks.
Wanqing raised her head, looking back at him with a hint of fear. He stared back at her before gently caressing her hair and cupping her face with his hands. He then suddenly leaned in and kissed her.
