A Country, A City.
Ding Wanqing stepped out of the hospital, a look of weary despair cast upon her face, the doctor's words still echoing in her ears...
"Miss Ding, the situation of your mother is not promising, we recommend immediate surgery. Now that we have successfully secured a kidney match, if you can come up with the surgery fee of 200,000 within two days, we will prioritize your mother's treatment. Otherwise, we will have to save other patients first."
200,000?
Where was she supposed to get 200,000?
Her mother had been sick for two years already, and the alimony she got when she left home was all spent. Was she supposed to go back there yet again and ask for more? To save her mother, it wasn't like she never went back, but each time she did, she was met with cold mockery from the mother and daughter; and her biological father, he just wouldn't care!
But for the sake of her mother, she must try again!
She quickly walked into a nearby phone store and dialed a number: "It's me..."
"What is it?" Ding Zhigang asked with impatience.
"Mom's not doing well." She said angrily, "You abandoned us, you don't even care about whether she lives or dies, how can you live with yourself? It's just 200,000, you won't even give me that!"
"Wanqing, calm down..." Ding Zhigang said. He wasn't negligent, just that every time she went to his house, his current wife would be there, how could he dare to give her money? Moreover, his company was in trouble recently, let alone 200,000, even 20,000 was scarce to him...
"How can I calm down when my mother is dying?!" Wanqing shrieked, "If she dies, I'm going too, and as ghosts, we won't let you off!"
"Alright, alright, come find me at the office now." Ding Zhigang said.
Ding Wanqing hung up the call and rushed over impatiently. She entered the company, only to be informed that Ding Zhigang was with a client, therefore she had to wait outside.
After waiting half an hour, just as she was anxiously thinking she had been cheated, the office door opened. She stood up and rushed over, only to discover the man coming out wasn't Ding Zhigang.
But it was too late, she had already collided into the stranger.
"Ugh..." It hurt, was this man built like a fortress?
"What are you doing?!" Someone shouted nearby.
Before she could react, she felt a tight grip around her wrist and was pulled aside. She looked up to find the man holding her was Ding Zhigang, her biological father.
Ding Zhigang ignored her and asked the man she had bumped into: "I'm so sorry, Mr. Mu, are you alright?"
Seeing his nervous and apprehensive response, Wanqing was taken aback. She knew she must have run into someone important, that would explain her father's reaction.
She lifted her head and saw a young man. He was wearing a tailored, three-piece handcrafted Italian suit, his stature was tall and lean, his expression cold and aloof, exuding an intimidating and oppressive aura. His eagle-eye gaze was fixated on her.
His predatory stare frightened her so much she took a step back.
The man lazily glanced at her, his eyes swiftly moving from her face down to her feet, then he turned and walked away without a backward glance.
Ding Zhigang followed behind him, bowing and scraping, treating him like a god.
Upon reaching the elevator, the young man turned around and said with a icy voice, "Director Ding, please go back. No need to see me off."
"Yes, yes, yes..." Ding Zhigang continued to bow and scrape.
The man stepped into the elevator, and as the doors closed, he said to his subordinate, "Investigate the woman we just ran into."
