Qiaoqiao was anxiously clutching her phone as she sat on the couch, tearing her eyes away from Yun Mo who was reading across from her, "I'm going to call Aze. It should be noon right now in San Francisco, correct?"
"Mhm." Yun Mo's eyes remained focused on the book in his hands. Glancing up at his anxious wife, he let out a sigh. She was the one who said their daughter should be independent, but she was also worried to death about her. Oh dear!
"Why isn't he picking up?" Qiaoqiao said in frustration, listening to the incessant dial tone on the other end of the line. "Sisi is only fourteen and it's her first time traveling this far alone. I'm truly worried... Amo, how safe is San Francisco?"
"Don't worry." Yun Mo put down his book, walked around the coffee table, and sat beside her. He put his comforting hand on her shoulder, patting gently, "Sisi is almost a grown-up and very capable. She should be having lunch with Aze by now."
The dial tone stopped, so Qiaoqiao redialed.
