This was a new guard, one Feng Qingxue had not seen, at least not among those she had encountered in the old chief's home. She only heard Guo Ming asking, "Xiaoliu, you've come to see me—is there something wrong with the old chief?"
Xiaoliu scanned the people in the room and saluted respectfully, "The old chief has been coughing rather severely, so Secretary Zhou sent me to find you."
"I will go right now, right now," Guo Ming said hurriedly as he reached for his medical kit. "I've told the old chief many times to quit smoking, quit smoking; smoking damages the lungs, but he just can't part with those few cigarettes. He really doesn't take good care of himself."
Xiaoliu smiled but said nothing, clearly reluctant to pass judgment on the old chief's actions or on what Guo Ming had said.
Such careful consideration was admirable.
