Lin Chan insisted that He Zhilan memorize his phone number, he wouldn't let her go until she had committed it to memory.
As they arrived at the gate of the Capital University, he said, "Practise reciting for me my number, then explain to me the way to your dorm. I'll drop you off. If you don't, I'll turn the car around and we'll go out for some fun."
While his tone was playful, his expression clearly instructed He Zhilan not to take his words lightly, and that he would follow through.
Suppressing her frustration, He Zhilan recited the number and gave directions to her dorm but made up her mind not to call Lin Chan.
"Dear little Xiaolan, head up. And remember to call me sometimes to strengthen our family bond," he said.
