Tianxin looked at him in shock, his feverish body pressed closely against hers, enveloping her in a distinctly male scent. His black, deep-set eyes were staring intently at her, their depths flickering with a mysterious, elusive light.
"I asked you something…" Chen Yiran slightly bowed his head, his nose against hers, as he watched the blush on her face intensify.
"I... I..." Tianxin only felt that their proximity was making her dizzy, she couldn't recall a time when they were this close before.
It seemed as if all the blood in her body had rushed to her head, her heart pounding wildly in her chest, almost as if it was going to burst out.
"What is it??" Chen Yiran's eyes remained fixed on her fair and rosy cheeks. The warm breath emanating from his nose gently brushed against her face, making her blush even more, like a ripe apple.
Chen Yiran propped himself up, half laying on Tianxin. After a short while, he began to feel tired, amused by Tianxin's bashful appearance, he shook his head, rolled over to the other side of the bed, and said, "Tianxin, you must understand, being alone with a man can be very dangerous."
"Huh??" Feeling the weight on her body gone, Tianxin turned slightly to see Chen Yiran with his eyes half closed, she asked in confusion, "Is it dangerous to be alone with you, too?"
"Mm…" Chen Yiran responded, his eyes closed. Her blushing, fair and tender face popped into his mind, he reopened his eyes, looked at Tianxin lying beside him, and chuckled helplessly, "What a child."
After a while, he sat up, saying, "I'm a bit hungry, let's go have some of the porridge you made…"
"Oh… okay…" Tianxin sat up, seemingly understanding, and followed Chen Yiran into the dining room.
She took a clean bowl and chopsticks from the cupboard and served him a bowl of porridge.
Watching her skilled movements, Chen Yiran couldn't help raising an eyebrow, "You're quite experienced?"
"Mm…" Tianxin grabbed a chair and sat across from Chen Yiran, somewhat embarrassed, "My parents are often busy, so I'm home alone a lot. I manage with simple meals, but I don't know how to make a lot…"
"Mm." Chen Yiran nodded, lowered his head, and took a couple of sips of the porridge. It tasted sweet and delicious. He wondered how long it had been since he last ate home-cooked food. Even such a simple bowl of porridge seemed incredibly tasty to him.
