Tianxin turned her head in surprise to look at Chen Yiran, whose expression was cold. It was the first time she had ever seen him speak so harshly to someone else.
A flush of discomfort washed over Xiaoai's face. Her rosy lips opened and closed, but she could not find the words to respond.
Chen Yiran's fingers rhythmically tapped against the table, a clear sign of his irritation. His sharp eyebrows furrowed slightly. After a long silence, he glanced at his watch and turned to Xiaoai. "I still have work to do at the office. Since you're just here to play at this blind date, I won't hold you up anymore."
"But I...." Xiaoai tried to interject, but Chen Yiran interrupted her. "I'll go first. I'll pay for your coffee before I leave. Please, stay a while."
"You...."
"Tianxin, let's go." Chen Yiran turned and called to Tianxin, who was still stunned in their seat. Then, he made his way towards the entrance of the coffee shop.
