Deep into the night, the villa was very quiet.
Gu Liancheng, clad in a bathrobe, emerged from the bathroom and sat down at his office desk. The light in the bedroom was dimmed, so as not to disturb the tranquility of the person sleeping on the bed.
She didn't like too much light, nor did she like darkness, so she would always insist on keeping the night light on while sleeping.
His movements were gentle, doing his best to make as little noise as possible. He even slowed down his typing, trying to keep quiet. Actually, he could have gone to the study room, but she had just had a nightmare, and had been mumbling for him in her sleep until he finally soothed her back to sleep.
She often had nightmares, and sometimes even cried in her sleep. He knew that there must be something on her mind that he didn't know about. However, he never asked her about it.
Everyone has their secrets. If she didn't wish to talk about it, he wouldn't ask. If she wanted to talk, he would listen.
Turning his head to glance at her on the bed, her brows were no longer furrowed, signaling she was in deep sleep. Thus, he continued his work till dawn, feeling relieved.
"Ah!" Eleven woke up startled from a dream.
"What's wrong?" Gu Liancheng turned to look at her, "Nightmare?"
"Yeah, a nightmare..." Eleven started scratching her hair, looking lethargic as she sat up. She was so tired, she leaned on the edge of the bed and mumbled, "I dreamt I failed a course... how awful!"
"Come here." Gu Liancheng swiveled his chair towards her, his voice gentle as a quiet stream. His arms were open.
Eleven climbed down from the bed and tucked herself into his protective embrace with her soft body, yawning sleepily.
Through the slightly opened curtain, Eleven struggled to open her eyes. She squinted and asked groggily, "Why is it still so dark… What time is it?"
"Five o'clock."
"So early… Honey, are you haven't slept yet, or are you already awake?"
She couldn't quite figure out Gu Liancheng's sleeping routine. He could stay up all night working sometimes. She wondered often why he still worked so hard when he already had everything.
Gu Liancheng didn't answer her question, he simply said, "It's still very early. Go back to sleep. I'll hold you."
In the early morning haze, his voice carried his unique scent. It was amazingly comforting to Eleven. She nestled contentedly in his arms, murmuring, "Dreamt all night, I'm exhausted…"
"What else did you dream about?"
Eleven raised her head, her lips stretching into a grin. She then touched his lips with her fingertips, "You."
It was a playful gesture, like that of a child.
In actuality, she did not dream about him. She really couldn't quite recall what dreams she had. All she remembered was being awakened by a dreadful dream of failing a course.
Gu Liancheng knew she was lying, but he didn't get angry. On the contrary, he found her playful behavior quite endearing.
He had to admit, Fang Eleven was extremely beautiful. She had a bewitching charm from the first glance that only deepened with time.
She was a woman like water, sparkling clear and thoroughly enchanting, radiating a sunny disposition with her wide sparkling eyes.
Unable to resist, Gu Liancheng leaned down and kissed her.
She tried to move away, but he wrapped his arms around her from behind, leaving her no room to escape.
After managing to evade him, she breathlessly said, "Stop it, please. I have class in the afternoon..."
It had been just some playful fooling around, but she had provoked him.
"Take leave." He suggested without hesitation.
"I need to submit a paper, it's part of my grade."
"Leave it to me."
"But you have to work."
"I won't go."
"..."
By then, it was too late for Eleven to realize her mistake.
Early in the morning, Mr. Gu was indeed full of energy.
She had a gut feeling that she couldn't escape this time!
