Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 Wrist-cutting Suicide_1

Jiang Su, with his cold expression, opened the door with an impatient look on his face.

Lin Wei: "..."

Jiang Su: "..."

The hallway was unusually quiet. After a while, the considerably taller Jiang Su slightly shifted his gaze towards Lin Wei and made a remark, "Truly a diligent discipline monitor."

"..."

Lin Wei blinked, her thoughts finally detaching from, "How is the world so small, and why did she run into this guy with a seemingly abnormal mind again?"

She could tell that Jiang Su was taunting her, but she didn't plan to stoop to his level. It wasn't worth her time, especially when she was eager to continue working on a challenging math problem that she had not yet found a solution for, even after three minutes of study.

Lin Wei opened her mouth, just about to explain.

However, before she could get the words out, Jiang Su ungraciously retreated by half a step and interjected, "However many points you want to deduct, just do it. No need to ask me."

Once he finished, Jiang Su abruptly slammed the door shut.

Judging by the sound of it, he seemed quite irritable.

Lin Wei stared at the door in front of her, made a tsk sound, then raised her hand and pressed the doorbell again.

Jiang Su must not have moved away, as the door very quickly reopened.

Before he had a chance to say anything, Lin Wei spoke first, "I didn't come to deduct points, I came to bring you fruit."

"..."

It was then that Jiang Su noticed the neatly cut fruit platter that Lin Wei was holding.

Seeing that he didn't take it, Lin Wei took a small step forward.

Being a little closer, she could smell the faint scent of moisture on him, indicating he had just taken a shower. He had spent the day sleeping in the classroom, and his normally untidy hair was now neat and clean. The cuts on his face and the earring in his ear were still very conspicuous.

After nearly ten seconds, Jiang Su looked up from the fruit platter and turned his gaze to Lin Wei's face.

His eyes were beautiful, long and narrow with slightly upturned corners, but his gaze was indifferent, so indifferent that it was almost empty. Paired with the wounds on his face, he looked rather desolate and strangely charming.

After looking at her for a few seconds, as if understanding her thoughts, he stated, "I don't hit girls."

Lin Wei: ????

"Besides, I don't care about those few points you deducted. So, no need to suck up to me."

Lin Wei: "..."

The abbreviation king, who seemed so arrogant, actually had such a bizarre imagination.

She was genuinely curious how he could interpret her giving him fruit as an act of sucking up.

Guided by the idea of student comradery, Lin Wei grinned broadly and started to explain to Jiang Su, "I live across the hall, so I'm your neighbor. My mother has a custom of welcoming new neighbors on their first day by sending a small gift. So, I'm simply welcoming my new neighbor."

Lin Wei pushed the fruit platter a bit closer to him and said, "Dear neighbor, I hope you'll be happy living here."

Jiang Su: "..."

Seeing the speechless look on Jiang Su's face, Lin Wei felt a sense of satisfaction. She enthusiastically pushed the platter closer again and kindly reminded him, "Dear neighbor, take your time with the fruit. When you finish, don't forget to wash the plate before returning."

Jiang Su raised his hand, and returned another unfriendly "bang" to Lin Wei.

The door was closed again.

Lin Wei looked at the shut door and then at the fruit platter in her hands, questioning what was wrong with him.

To eat or not to eat, she didn't care.

Lin Wei, still holding the fruit platter, began to walk home. As she reached her door, she looked at the fruit she had not been able to deliver and hesitated for a moment. But instead of dwelling on it, she plopped down in the corner and began stuffing the fruit into her mouth, one piece after another.

Song Jin rarely assigned her tasks, and had only asked her to come this time because she herself was truly tied up.

No matter how menial the task, any failure on her part would surely upset Song Jin.

She didn't want to upset her, nor could she bear Song Jin's disappointment.

Luckily, that abbreviation king who had quite a few screws loose wasn't easy to get along with, hence there wouldn't likely be much interaction between Song Jin and him. Whether or not the fruit was delivered became less important, as long as Song Jin believed it was.

Fearing Song Jin coming out to check what was taking so long, Lin Wei hurriedly stuffed more fruit into her mouth, barely tasting it as she swallowed.

She had nearly polished off the platter, with only one piece of cantaloupe left. As she was about to pop it into her mouth, the door beside her opened.

Jiang Su appeared.

He also had a plate in his hand.

The plate had just been washed and was still dripping with water.

Lin Wei: "..."

Jiang Su: "..."

Once again, an awkward silence filled the hallway.

An unpleasant, cringe-worthy silence.

Could it be that the abbreviation king didn't actually refuse the fruit, but rather went to wash the plate?

Why didn't he tell her this before?

Now, all the fruit was eaten, and she had no idea how to fix this situation.

At this point, Lin Wei thought to herself, she certainly couldn't regurgitate the fruit to give to Jiang Su. Of course, she also didn't wish to prolong this awkward situation.

She thought and thought some more, and eventually pulled the half-eaten piece of cantaloupe from her mouth. Slowly, she rose to her feet and held it out to Jiang Su, "Why don't you have... the last piece?"

Jiang Su didn't respond.

Lin Wei blinked, her tone gentle, "The cantaloupe is sweet, try it."

Lin Wei raised her hand a bit higher, and just as the cantaloupe was about to touch Jiang Su's lips, he suddenly lifted his hand and firmly gripped her wrist through her uniform sleeve.

He looked directly at her for quite a while, and just when Lin Wei started to fear that he might hit her, he suddenly raised his eyebrows. He then muttered with a smirk, "An indirect kiss?"

Lin Wei: "..."

In those few seconds, countless thoughts raced through Lin Wei's mind.

Was that an obvious attempt at flirting? Could she justify slapping him in response?

The melon was half in her mouth before, but her lips didn't touch it, so it wouldn't count as an indirect kiss, should she explain this to him?

But if she really did slap him, would he hit her back? He appeared quite intimidating…

After weighing all of her options, Lin Wei decided to resolve the matter peacefully. However, before she could say a word, her gaze shifted from the piece of cantaloupe to the wrist of the hand he was using to grip her wrist.

Perhaps due to washing the plate, his cuff was rolled up slightly, exposing the inner side of his wrist.

On the pale thin wrist was a long, twisted scar.

The scar, running along the length of a major artery, seemed the most severe.

So… her desk mate, the new neighbour, the abbreviation king with an abnormal mindset, had once… attempted suicide by cutting his wrist?
