Chapter 1 - My Origin

I am a cat, and people around me call me Mr White.

For as long as I can remember, I was looked after by an old, thin woman in her 80s.

She always wears a grey scarf with golden stitching at the end. I think the scarf is a lucky charm for her.

Well, they also called me a Lucky Cat.

"Wawa Wawa Wawa." said a girl in a white uniform holding a broomstick. Her hand caressed my hair gently.

I've been with all this human since then, but it's not that I don't try to understand their language, but I can only hear them saying the word 'Wawa'.

Cat doesn't have a dictionary.

"Look at the white cat sitting behind the window glass. He looks so handsome, right?"

Someone is talking about me.

My ears moved while listening to the sound of a stray cat passing by from outside the fence house.

"Hrmm! He's just a lazy cat." responded the other stray cat.

"Still, he is lucky," she said, and they ran toward a building across the street.

See, I am lucky, but all the statements that tell me I'm a lucky cat are from the other animal. Not from humans.

However, according to my understanding, I am a cat belonging to a wealthy noblewoman in this city.

The old and thin woman had many bakeries and restaurants in all the districts of the country, in this resident alone, she had a few servants and maids, ten chefs in her kitchen, two maids just for me and one butler who always stood before her.

Enough to tell I'm an aristocratic cat.

Nevertheless, she had no heir to her fortune and when she was at her last point before she breathed her last.

She said,

"I consider you as my little son. I do not regret the path I chose, but I am sad to leave you alone in the world. I have no friends nor family to ask for help."

I, who originally lay on her lap, then sat looking at her who was still talking while sitting down in the chair made of wood inside the area of her room close to a large and high window. The rays of the dusk emitted through her tired face.

"If I could make a wish, I want you to inherit my wealth. Spend it as you please. Having a lot of parties after your coming of age ceremony, travel the world without sitting in this old house forever. Eat a lot of fish you desire. Make friends. Have family, a large family." continues her.

That's when I realized that I could understand every word she said.

Her loud voice a moment ago began to fade.

"...why do I feel like you understand my every word?" she said while smiling, then her gentle caress on my body ended after her eyes were closed, and the memory was still fresh in my brain. She left me on December 17.

A few days later, after the burial ceremony was over, one by one, the workers in her house left the residence, and no one said goodbye to me like before. Even though I don't understand but I kinda know what it means.

...

I don't know how long it's been after that.

...

Two weeks?

Month?

...

I miss her warm touch.

As I close my eyes while lying on her bed covered in white satin fabric.

I dream.

"Mr White!"

Someone calling my name. Yes, that's my name. I am Mr White.
