"Hmm. That's not a bad idea."
They continued eating and laughing. After finishing off the last cookie, they went into the kitchen and washed the dishes together.
"Well," said Jay. "I guess I'll go get ready then."
"Okay."
"Where's the bathroom?"
"Second door on the right."
He walked down the hallway and stopped by the bedroom. "Hey, Evelyn?"
"Hmmm?"
"It's been fun hanging out with you today."
"I've enjoyed spending time with you too."
"Thanks."
As he closed the door behind him, he thought, This girl has a good sense of humor.

In the middle of the night, an intruder entered the house through the front door. He crept silently upstairs, trying to remain unnoticed. The intruder moved carefully across the floor, keeping one eye open so as not to trip over anything. Finally, he reached the room where the young couple slept.
