Suddenly, the monster stopped. It turned to look at him and let out a high-pitched shriek.
"That's odd," James muttered.
He looked over at Sarah, who was still lying motionless on the ground. The spider moved towards her. It picked her up by the arm and brought her close.
"She is dead," the spider said, speaking through its mouthparts. "But we can use her as a host."
The spider approached James, its fangs dripping with venom.
James took a step backwards. He glanced at Sarah again and then looked at the spider.
"You're not going to eat me too, are you?" James asked.
The spider seemed confused for a moment, then shrugged and carried Sarah inside itself.
It vanished with Sarah inside.
"Well, that wasn't pleasant," James said, staggering back to where Sarah had been.
His body continued to give off a dark aura.
