She had been on the streets looking for food. It hadn't taken long. Just a few minutes walking around the city. But then something happened. Something incredible. An explosion of light and sound. It made her feel as though she had entered a different universe entirely.
That moment changed everything. Blade looked down at herself. She was covered in dust and ash. Wherever the blast had originated, there was no trace of it left. Not even any pieces of glass or metal. Everything was completely clean.
Blade stared down at the ground, searching for some sign of where it might have come from. The only thing she found was a single piece of paper. It had fallen out of nowhere, landing in front of her feet.
The writing on it was in a language she recognized. She could tell by the shape of the characters that they were English. They were too angular and sharp-looking.
