What would happen if he told anyone? Would the police kill him? How could he prove that Kamen wasn't normal? Who would believe him? Could he trust anyone?
He looked around the room quickly. Kamen was still smiling. It seemed like nothing bothered him anymore. He wasn't scared of anything. Even the most horrible things didn't seem to bother him.
Maybe I should just keep quiet then, John thought.
"Why are you worried?" Kamen asked.
"Nothing," John muttered. "Never mind."
"Hey bro, do you think we'll ever see any of our classmates there?" John asked. "Or maybe they went somewhere else?"
"I don't know." Kamen shrugged. "Probably not, but who knows? We should probably focus on getting ready for the party. You don't want to be late."
"Right!" John said.
They picked out a pair of boots each. Then Kamen took a jacket from a rack and held it up against John.
