"Try harder." Jay laughed.
The men were stunned for a moment. Jay picked his bag up and tossed the pieces of broken pipe aside. The remaining attackers charged forward.
"What do you say you try one more time?" Jay asked.
Without any other choice, the men returned to the attack.
In what seemed like slow motion, Jay moved between the swings and blocks. At least ten punches connected with one of the attacker's bodies before one finally broke through his defenses. A large lump formed on his forehead. Blood poured down his face. The attacker fell unconscious.
The last two remaining assailants backed off.
"Thank you," Jay said as he walked toward the exit. "It was good practice."
When he reached the door, the two men standing outside pulled out their guns and pointed them at Jay.
"A gunshot now will just get the attention of the authorities. You don't want that, do you?"
