Oh, shut up." Lilia laughed. "I meant that you're not eating much anymore."
Darin rubbed his stomach. "I'm hungry all the time now. My metabolism must have changed."
Lilia sat up and looked at him. "What happened to your stomach?"
"It hurts when I eat too much."
"Are you sure you should still be eating?"
"I'm fine," he insisted. "Just keep me company."
Lilia frowned. "Sure. But I want you to promise me you won't push yourself too hard. You might hurt yourself."
Darin said nothing. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small packet. "I brought you some tea."
Lilia took it and put it on her lips. The cool liquid refreshed her throat. "Thank you."
They sat in silence again. Then Darin spoke again. "Did you hear about what happened yesterday?"
"No."
"Yeah. It's pretty crazy here right now. Some of my friends went downtown last night and said there were some reports about the runaway scientist, Jay."
