He looked away.
"How come you never talk about your parents?" Chloe asked.
Lux didn't reply immediately. "I guess I always thought that if I told someone about my life before the wave, it'd make me sound pathetic. Or worse yet, weak."
"Hey, you're strong. You can do anything." Lux reassured him.
Lux gave Chloe a smile. His heart felt warm from her friend's words. "Thank you."
The truck sped forward, passing the trees and houses until they reached a large building. The truck was parked near the entrance.
"This should do fine. Come on," Lux said.
Chloe followed him into the facility. Metal panels covered the interior walls. Scattered everywhere were large machinery and devices.
"Where are we going?" she asked.
