Evelyn had no patience for people who didn't know their place.
She stood in the dimly lit lab, watching the scientists continue their work, her arms crossed as they carefully inserted more vials of the blue liquid into the new prototypes. The air smelled of metal and ozone, the faint hum of machinery filling the space.
One of the scientists hesitated under her gaze, his hands unsteady as he handled the vial.
"Careful," she said, her voice smooth but firm. "One mistake and you'll regret it."
The scientist nodded quickly and refocused on his task.
She turned away, her mind already working through the next steps. Jay's plan to eliminate Lux and Chloe was already in motion. She had seen to that personally. But she couldn't shake the feeling that this wasn't going to be as simple as removing a few nuisances.
Lux had electricity manipulation. Chloe had telekinesis. They weren't ordinary targets.
Evelyn hated unpredictability.
