Chapter 1 - Chapter One: Moonshine and Mages

A bright light filled the throne. As the ritual was completed, people began appearing out of the light. A large group was looking around the room, confused. They consisted of young adults looking like they were pulled randomly off the street. Students still sitting at their desks were scattered around the center of the room.

Confused voices filled the room, "Where are we?" "What's happening?" A lot of the people in the room were asking questions like these. Even though the robed mages and armored knights couldn't understand them, they had a general idea. After a couple moments of confusion, the king sitting atop his marble throne raised his hand. He signaled to the mages, and another smaller light came from them.

"Now that that's sorted, allow me to welcome you all to Makaria!" the king's booming voice effectively silenced the confused people as they turned towards the seated man.

"First, I'd like to apologize for the sudden transfer. We don't get to choose who gets summoned here." Standing up from his throne, he spoke even clearer.

"Please, other worlders, be our heroes." silence followed this as the group began trying to process what he had just said. Looking around, the king saw what he expected confusion, worry, and some excitement. Things were moving as expec... "WOOOO, WEEEE! That's good." a cheerful voice startled the king out of his thoughts.

A young man in overalls and plaid was sitting at a table, much like how the students were seated. The difference, though, is the equipment sitting atop the table. The entire room jumped a bit at this expressive voice before collectively turning toward the source of the sound.

A bright shining new copper still was placed atop a coal burner surrounded by equipment for distilling, the young man that had shouted was leaning back in a chair with a metal cup in one hand on his lap and a 5-gallon jug in his other hanging at his side.

"Man, I gotta say thank ya to mai Uncle when I see him again." the young man looked around, confused faces staring at him. "Ah, sorry, did I ruin the moment?" It was the king's turn to be confused. He was wondering what someone like that was doing in the summons. Before the king could continue, a student stepped forward.

"Uhm, how do I understand that, man? English was always my worst subject." the student's uniforms matched most of the other students around them. It was also apparent that the overalled man was the only brown-haired person in the group.

"Ahem, we, of course, cast a translation spell onto you all." the king then sat back onto his throne, waving over a robbed man. "This is Makaria's head mage. He will be explaining the rest of this situation."

Stepping forwards the mage pulled down his hood his hairless head glinting against the torch light. "I am Torean. I first would like to thank you all for being here even though you didn't have a choice."

Quiet murmuring followed as Torean continued, "We have summoned you as Heros of god to help us fight against the demon ki.." "HELL YES!!!" a new excited voice came from the group of students.

A black-haired teenager had his fist clenched in excitement, sitting sideways at his desk. "This is the Isekai situation I've been hoping for!!" a few other students seemed to share in his excitement as they began talking amongst themselves.

"You think there are cat girls?" "Forget that I want to meet some elves!" the teenagers' excitement seemed endless as they chatted together. Speaking over the excited voices, Torean continued to speak, silencing their conversation. "You all should know what situation you are in right now." all attention went back onto the mage as they stopped speaking.

"Please speak the word Status to bring up your information." the room filled with the noise of everyone speaking the same word simultaneously, getting excited as they saw it work. "We will check your status to advise you on your best course of action." a group of uniformed workers began filing out of a set of doors behind Torean clipboards in hand and paired up with one person each.

Once again, the room was filled with chatter as everyone was busy discussing their stats with the advisors. Torean was pleased as he watched from next to the king things seemed to be going well as everyone seemed to be working with their advisor well.

"I'll say it again Fuck off! I ain't giving away no info to some city slikin government worker from sum Farn Country." Torean grimaced when he heard the yelling. Looking at the back, he could see one of the advisors looking distressed as he gripped his clipboard.

"Sir, if you want me to help you, this is required." the advisor gave a shaky smile as he said this. Standing up, the young man poured himself another drink before setting the jug down and turning towards the advisor.

"Who said I wanted help from mai kidnappers?" knocking back his drink, he set his cup down before picking up an M97 shotgun leaning against the table. "What happens ifin I don't want to help with your so-called crusade?" "I was enjoying my time moonshining after a long day of Huntin varmets on my land before I got harry pottered to some overly Booji barn." Turning towards Torean, the man racked the shotgun one-handed, tossing it up to grab it with one hand before pointing it toward the mage.

People between the man and Torean flinched away in fear since they knew what he was holding, leaving the advisors confused. "So I'll ask the fancy dressed boot licker ifin I don't want to be helpen with your little problem?"

Torean's head started to ache with anger at the man, but he kept calm. "We have prepared in advance for people who would have your same reservation." signaling with his hand again. More people came out of the doors pushing carts with sets of medium-sized bags with coin purses on top of them. "You're free to take a bag of holding with the coin purse as long as you keep quiet about what's happening here. The bag of holding has enough supplies for a few days. The coin purse has ten gold worth of silver in it."

Pulling back his shotgun. The man set it against the table again "I'll take the bag. Still, I barely trust the Merican government, let alone some pressy pants king with a Holyer than thee complex."

"Hold your tongue, you insolent dog!" being fed up with the man's attitude, a knight pulled his sword, stepping forward to place the blade along his neck. Before the edge could touch his neck, the man kicked up his shotgun, grabbed it midair, and put it to the knight's chest.

"Hoo boy! You better be putting that overgrown steak flipper down before I make you Holier than the Pope." the man's confidence and sentence confused the knight before Torean spoke.

"ENOUGH!" Torean looked down on the man. The knight slowly sheathed his blade. "It would beseech you just to take what you've been offered and leave." putting his shotgun on his shoulder, the man walked up to the carts, the students and other adults whispering as he passed. When he finally got to the carts, he grabbed a bag, purposely lifting the load to make the purse fall to the ground spilling the coins everywhere.

Walking back to his table, he started packing away his belongings, the items disappearing as he put them in. The silence in the room would be defining if not for the sound of him filling his bag. Once he cleared off his table, he realized he couldn't fit his jug in the bag. Setting it on the table, he sighed. "I was hoping to drink this after spending the last two weeks fixin it, but I guess you can consider it a present from me. Maybe it'll loosen ya'll up." slinging the now filled bag over his left should, he picked up his shotgun with his right hand and was escorted out by knights.
