Chapter 39 - Chapter 39. Luneth's Plan

Gwen's point of view

As I looked at Leva I could see her face turn slightly pale and her hands were trembling.

 - My lady, did you call for me? - At that moment, as expected, Lidya came, she is the head servant in the castle and Leva's wife, a beautiful sirenoid with red scales and braided hair.

She is always serious, she is a loyal and really nice servant, besides beautiful, but on top of that, she is Leva's Achilles heel, she always ties him up short when he overdoes it, never in front of others, to keep her husband's respect as a general towards the soldiers, but it was an open secret who had the pants in that relationship.

 - Nothing Lidya, we were just talking about how Leva changed her mind with Hel and his - She nodded.

 - Relax your highness, my husband will not attempt suicide again, I have no intention of becoming a widow, if you need me I'll be in the service room - As she spoke she gave Leva just a glance and I could notice how he didn't even breathe, as if any noise would wake up the beast.

 - Thank you Lidya - She nodded and left the room, leaving us alone.

 - It seems that this time he has really pissed off - When Leva heard me she only sighed.

 - If you knew majesty, I've been sleeping on the floor of the hall since that day, I'm sure that if it weren't for how thick the castle walls are, I could have heard you from the highest tower to the dungeons - Leva sighed again while Luneth and I could hardly contain our laughter.

Having lost all tension and annoyance, thanks to Leva's betrothed life, I was able to finish my breakfast at ease, though just remembering that Marcus is coming really unnerves me.

 - Mrs. Gwen I had a good idea - Luneth seemed to be enthusiastic about this "idea" of hers, so I could only nod to my friend.

 - How about if Mr. Hel is your bodyguard in the meeting with Marcus, as Leva says, he expires some pressure, which will keep Marcus at bay and you will have him watched, that way he won't be able to move freely, taking for granted that as he is a mercenary it's time for him to do something, instead of staying at home - It seemed like a good idea, besides that with this "honorable" position, which would be to defend me, it can also be used to deepen a relationship between us as leaders, that way trying to tie them together or at least, keep them as allies.

Just as I was about to nod, Leva's loud voice echoed in the room.

 - We cannot leave the safety of our queen to a stranger, no matter how powerful he is, his defense is something that we, his faction, should provide, not a stranger - Leva's words were also right, leaving my life to someone alien is stupid, but that would be if this world was not LAZ, if he died he would simply revive, letting us know that he is an enemy and would end up dying, so it would not bring any benefit to his person.

After a few moments of reflection, I decided to listen to Luneth.

 - I have decided, Leva call Hel and bring him - Leva looked at me and sighed helplessly.

 - My lady, is there nothing this servant can do to change my mind - He seemed really reluctant to leave me in Hel's protection and I understood that, as a queen I must always stay alive, as a beacon of hope, a candle in the night for all my subjects, a candle that never flickers and never goes out. But for him, he is a general of his queen and his duty has always been to protect me from all danger and now a potential source of danger is going to take it upon himself to protect me.

I could only sound him out.

Only half an hour later, in the throne room, Hel appeared with the two women behind him.

He did not kneel or bow, he simply stood still, waiting for me to say something.

That attitude didn't bother me, he had the strength to be arrogant and owed me no loyalty, he was simply a mercenary.

Since he was still waiting, I decided to tell him what I had planned for him.

 - The reason I have called you is to entrust you with your first mission, this will consist of being my bodyguard today - He nodded.

 - In that case I will leave you with Lilith and Irina, they will protect you, although this kind of assignments, so... delicate, deserve a small bonus - It seems that something had caught his attention in the city these days or it was concerning his payment, but if I have something that he is interested in, that can only be good for me.

 - First tell me what you want as a reward and then I'll see if it can be granted - Force a neutral voice, I didn't want the illusion of having something that had caught his attention to be noticed, having one more chip on the board can only be good.

 - It's simple little empress, one of my boys has taken a fancy to learn to carve runes, as I understand, to learn this trade requires the permission of the queen - Who would have thought that he wanted to help one of his own, but the trade of rune carver, was not one that was easily learned, plus this could end up against us ....

 - Well let me think about it... depending on how this mission is accomplished I will give you an answer - At that moment I noticed that the little girl, Lilith, seemed to exude a cold aura, I was sure that by not granting the wishes to her master, she took it as an insult.

 - In that case I'll leave them with you, I'll go back to the house you offered us.

 - Let me clarify something, this mission is proposed only for you, they can enjoy our city - It was then that a loud angry voice resounded in the room, along with a terrifying aura.

 - WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU SAYING -
