As all the guests admired the bow, Edgar frowned, suddenly fixing his gaze on the horizon through one of the hall's tall windows. A reddish beam of light pierced the calm tropical night sky in the distance.
"Father?" Quara asked, sensing the disturbance in the air as well. Her expression grew serious despite the festive atmosphere.
Edgar smiled slightly at her, maintaining his usual calm. "Nothing important, my daughter."
However, he gestured to his right-hand man, Adaams, who stood in the shadows. Approaching discreetly, Adaams listened to the silent order of the chieftain.
"Strengthen our defenses at the border," murmured Edgar.
"Understood, Chieftain," Adaams replied before vanishing as quickly as he had appeared.
The celebration resumed, with the incident going unnoticed by most of the guests. Edgar then stood up, a benevolent smile on his lips, and walked toward Akan. All eyes were now on him.
