Chapter 16 - Chapter 16:The car

The group finished breakfast and got ready to go their seperate ways.

" And then if you take a right at this intersection you should be there." Li Jiefan said pointing down at the map.

Li Jiefan was looking down at the map on the counter of a register of a camping store they were in. She and Chen Liechu had just mapped out a route to get to the safe zone.

" And if you don't you should be encountering the milatary." Chi Muyang said inserting himself into the conversation.

Chen Liechu nodded, " I will pass through the dealership next door and get a car."

Li Jiefan leaned back resting her forearms against the register behind her," Are you sure you want to go to the safe zone? You can wait here for the military."

" No, I think it's best if I go. The thought of staying in this mall alone and paranoid waiting for rescue gives me the chills," Chen Liechu said as a shiver raked through her body," Are you sure you want to go to the delearship down the block? You can come with me and get a car at the dealership next door."

" My mind is set, the I saw a car I really liked in the window of that dealership a week ago and it's not that far anyway," Li Jiefan replied," And do you have anything you have to plan Chi Muyang?"

Chi Muyang shook his head," No, I got everything in order."

" Good." Li Jiefan said crossing her arms," So I guess it's time to go."

" I guess it is." Chen Liechu said with a somber smile.

Li Jiefan broke the silence that had settled over them by saying," Let's get going."

-------------------------------------------------------

Li Jiefan walked out of the mall and grabbed the bike she left leaning on the wall outside. She pushed herself off the ground and cycled out the parking garage and joined ont

the main road. The dealership she was heading to was a few minutes away, just a few blocks. Li Jiefan looking at the view in front of her, the blue sky contrasted beautiful against the darkening empty landscape. Li Jiefan cycled down the street and she saw the shadow of people in stores. It seemed like people finally had the guts, or were motivated by the fear of starvation, and had left their homes. The short haired girl sighed and turned her attention back onto the road, it was weird to see the apacolypse from the this different perspective.

Li Jiefan took a deep breath and and let the wind blow through her shoulder length hair. She enjoyed feeling free. The memories of her last life invaded her mind; stuck in a dorm room, too afraid to peak outside of her windows and slowly starving as she prayed for anyone to save her. This freedom and was exhilarating, so she guessed she wasn't lying to Chen Liechu completely, she did need this trip, this freedom.

Li Jiefan rode her bike into the parking lot of the dealership, she placed her bike outside on the floor in front of the entrance. She took her knife out and and walked into the building. The door was open luckily, the chains around the handle were cut. Some one had been here. She cautiously looked around the building. The reception was messy, there were some papers strown across the desk, the chair behind the desk was turned over but beside from that it wasn't that bad. Li Jifan knew that the keys for the underground garage was in the managers office so she ignored everything else and went for the office labeled 'Managers Office'. She wanted to be fast, in and out. She had too many plans to get stuck in the dealership.

The manager's office was locked, so who ever was here did not come for anything in there. Li Jiefan grabbed the handle of the door and pulled it open, it was so nice to have increased strength. Li Jiefan walked behind the desk at the back of the room and forced open a drawer on the other side of the desk with her knife. She looked at the keys neatly layed out in indented foam with labels above each keys. Li Jiefan took the key labeled 'underground garage 2'. She closed the drawer and the door to the room and walked to the stairwell across the reception. Li Jiefan kept her movements fast and sleek, her steps barely making a sound. her face was void of emotion and her eyes swept the room precisely and robotically while her feet continued in the direction of the stairwell without having to pay attention, dodging the pillers in the way. This silent, fast way of walking was something that everyne would learn in the future. When the zombie's main way of locating living people is sound you need to figure out a way to move around and not attract every zombie in a meter radius to you.

Li Jiefan swiftly flew down the staircase until she got to the underground parking. She looked inside and saw U1 painted on a column so she moved a floor down.

She walked past the column painted,' U2' and walked to the back of it until she caught a glimpse of her car, she was so excited to get on the road. She turned back and entered the a small room close to the garage's entrance and used the keys she got from the managers room to open the door. In the room there was multiple safety boxes and in these safety boxes was the key to every car in the garage. Li Jiefan looked down the rows of safety boxes until she landed on the box that had the brand of her car written on it. She used the managers keys to open it up and let out a small squeal as she finally got to hold her keys. Her car being placed at the back of the garage made for a little bit of a walk but it gave her with the advantage of not needing to move any other car.

Li Jiefan unlocked her car and did a small happy dance while she put her bag into the back seat of the car and slipped into the front seat. She was a good driver so she reversed out of the garage smoothly and opened the door with the managers remote. the entrance was positioned at the back of the delearship so she drove around it until she got to the stores front. She opened her door and grabbed the bike she left outside the delearship and put it into the car, she would need it for roads that were harder to get through and there was no reason to discard a good bike. She got back into her car and continued onto to open door.
