MAURICE POV
It was evident on Bella's face that she was shocked that her parents could agree to my stay even without her having to beg them. I had texted Mr Andrew earlier when we stopped by at the shop that I had some news for him pertaining what he heard and saw but I would have to be at his house to tell him.
Rodrico's arrival was just an excuse to get Bella to bring me to her home without being suspicious of anything. Although he wasn't really my brother but I couldn't explain to Bella that he was a vampire and I was just like him. He was usually sent to check up on me to make sure I was still in check like why did they have to treat me like a child, no one checked on Talia like that ugh whatever.
I watched Bella dash out of the kitchen, she wanted to go call her best friend, her thoughts were really loud. I used that as an opportunity to go talk to Mr Andrew who was in his study room.
"Where are you going?" George, Bella's little brother, asked the moment I stood up from the sofa.
"None of your business." I said nonchalantly and kept going.
"Mom! Bella's friend is roaming the house." I heard him shout.
"It's okay Hun let her be." Mrs Andrew told him, her husband must have explained the circumstance to her or she was the one who got the message first.
"Hi Mr Andrew." I said once I was inside the room and out of the children's hearing.
"You must be Maurice." He replied.
"Yeah, may I sit?" I asked but sat on an armchair opposite him before he replied.
He just stared at me from his desk. "You know if your another therapist sent by my wife it's still the same thing I'll tell you, I am fine," he said while I watched him. I could hear Bella's conversation and it didn't sound like she would be coming down soon so I had quite some time.
"Oh really what if I told you I know your problem?" I asked with a smirk on my face.
"Aren't you too young to be a therapist?" He asked avoiding the question but his mind was like an open book with bold letters written on it, I could hear every single thing that came in. He was currently wondering why I could say that so confidently.
"Cause it's true." I said replying to his thought instead of the question he asked.
"What is true?" He asked looking confused.
"I will take things slow so you won't freak out." I said.
'Now I'm freaking out'
'Does she know what I saw?'
'Is she a government spy sent to eliminate me?'
His thoughts were all over the place, I almost had sympathy for him that he had to find out about us.
"Mr Andrew calm down, yes I know what you saw that's why I'm here and I'm not a government spy neither am I here to eliminate you." I explained but deep down I wished I could eliminate him instead.
"I didn't say that out loud." He said voicing his thoughts but he was beginning to doubt himself.
"So listen, you saw a file that indicates that this country donates blood to certain supernatural beings correct?" I asked although I was already certain and needed no confirmation.
He stared blankly at me wondering if he should tell the truth or deny it all. His mind was at war with itself but his facial expression gave away nothing.
That was actually great but I still didn't understand why Nate wouldn't let me to just wipe his memory or even better kill him (Nate will never let me kill anyone but that was a great thought though).
"Look young lady I'm not warranted to tell you anything." He said finally ending his brainstorming and deciding to play dumb instead.
"Nah" I said waving my hand for emphasis. "Your not warranted."
He just kept looking at me trying not to say anything for fear of implicating himself.
"Ok then, if you won't speak I believe I have to continue." I said.
"I don't know what your talking about and this isn't funny anymore do please leave." He ordered.
"Look Mr Andrew I'm not some spy out to hunt you or something, I was sent by our agency to make you understand why we exist, I would prefer to wipe out the memories or kill those that find out about us but I was ordered not to." I sighed after explaining.
My statement didn't really help cause now his mind was running extra miles, his heart seem like it was about to jump out of his body, his face didn't have that cool facade anymore either.
"Calm down would you, how many times do I have to explain that I'm not here to hurt you before you would believe?"I was getting tired of this situation, I thought I had graduated from doing this line of duty but I guess not.
"If you normally kill people why aren't you killing me? I won't be your captive." He choked out.
I laughed a bit sinisterly. "I wish I could kill you right now but I'm not allowed to and what made you think I'd want you as my captive." I said.
"Come on why else would you be asked not to kill me?"
I sighed thinking of how to rephrase my words to help him understand better.
"Mr Andrew I don't know how or why but you are a special person to one of my elders which means I can neither hurt you, kill you nor take you as captive." I said.
"Who is this elder and why would he order that?" He asked, he wasn't scared anymore but he was still a bit confused.
"Don't know don't care, can you let me speak now?" I asked feeling annoyed at all his useless questions, come on you are a safe man and you are asking why, how stupid.
He inhaled deeply then said. "I'll listen."
"You ever heard of vampires?" I asked watching him closely.
"George wouldn't stop talking about them since the movie night we watch 'The Originals'." He said.
"What would you say if I told you these movie characters termed vampires are real?" I asked again. I didn't want him to get a stroke or something cause that would count as me hurting him.
He chuckled but stopped when he saw I wasn't smiling. "Wait your serious? Vampires exist just like in the movies?"
"Yes we do." I said indicating that I was one too. I watched him waiting for a reaction but got none.
"You mean 'they do'." He said trying to correct my sentence.
"Vampires exist Mr Andrew and just like in some movies there are good and bad ones." He didn't speak so I continued. "The bad now are being too rebellious, it's annoying them that humans get to walk under the sun but not them."
"What are you trying to say?" He asked.
"I am not going to go into things fully telling you all about us and stuff all you need to know is that vampires exist and currently the good ones are in an alliance with the government, we provide security and the government provide us with blood." I said. "How is this going?" I asked him, I could tell that he was quite eased and was starting to understand the whole concept.
"Not bad but what I'm getting from all this is that New Orleans is not a safe place to be or train kids." He said.
"That's one of the reasons humans are not meant to know of vampires." I said thinking aloud.
"But that's not right, people are meant to know so as to take precautions." He argued which was true but humans can't take precautions from vampires unless they stay home all their live which was impossible for them.
"You can't take precautions from vampires since they are everywhere, the work of my agency is to take the precautions."
"So the documents I saw are the documents that seal the alliance between the government and your agency?" He asked to be sure of what the involvement of the government was in the whole thing.
"Exactly." I nodded.
"And I'm expected to believe all this why?"
Ugh humans are so doubtful.
"Since I've explained and you still don't believe then I'd have to show you." I said then revealed my fangs and the black veins on my face and neck to him. A wave of fear passed through his expression, his thoughts began to run wild again.
"But you attend college." He said giving me the benefit of doubt. Like come on you just saw I'm a vampire and your first concern is that I attended college.
"Now you're just being racist to vampires I'm hurt." I chuckled.
"But..." He wanted to ask more questions but Mrs Andrew yelled for everyone to come out for dinner.
"I'm still around so I'll answer some of your questions later." I said then stood up. "I'll excuse myself first, I hope you can get that depressed look off your face so I don't have to start all over." I said then left.
