"grandma! Grandpa!" Mira called out in excitement upon seeing her grandparents sitting on the sofa.
Elder lee and his wife Beatrice stood up and chorused in unison "sweetie!!". Beatrice opened her arms inviting Mira into a hug while elder lee stood with his walking stick in all his glory.
Mira ran into the arms of her grandma and Beatrice carried her. "Oh my, darling you've grown so big" she commented after lifting Mira, "and look at the chubby tummy" she poked her belly with her finger before setting her down.
"Madam Sela says it's baby fat and that it's normal" Joshua replied
"Of course it's normal, you were once a child too Joshua but now you've grown into a man who doesn't even have time for his parents. Oh I miss the days when you used to look upon us for protection but these days you only look down on us" said Beatrice while feigning sadness.
"Not this again" mumbled Joshua.
Mira looked in between them and decided to step in to support her dad, "not at all grandma, daddy loves guys with all his heart and says he'll plan a family picnic soon"
"Eh?" Joshua looked towards his cheeky daughter, he never said nothing about no picnic. What's she up to?.
"Right daddy?" Mira blinked and winked a few times, she wanted to Joshua to say something in line with what she had just said. It'll be good to build the relationship between all of them.
"Ah yes yes a family picnic, soon soon" was all he said.
Neither of his parents were convinced but they let the matter go. Elder lee and Beatrice sat on the sofa and Beatrice pulled a large bag close to herself and smiled
"You bought gifts!?" Mira asked after noticing the big bag
Beatrice nods. "of course, come on over".
Elder lee looked around and sighed softly, it'd been a while since he last visited, doesn't look like much had changed either. He looked at his son who was one the phone and frowned
He understood how drastic that incident was but he was ready to give Joshua a new start and perhaps Mira a few other siblings although Joshua seems less concerned on that matter. He looked towards Mira who was now next to Beatrice and his frown deepens....blood!
"Did you say something dear?" Beatrice asked, she thought he mumbled something.
"There's blood?"
What?, Beatrice looked at Mira and indeed there was blood stain on the base of her uniform
"Ahh!" Shrieked Beatrice, startling every soul in the room. Mira was carried and placed on the sofa. Beatrice gently lifted her uniform and revealed her bruised and bloody knee.
Both grandparents eyes widened in shock, Mira was a bit confused at what they were looking at which such ghastly expressions. The lifted uniform was blocking her view of what they were looking at.
"What's the problem? I heard ma scream" Joshua asked while walking in from the next room he was receiving a call in. Suddenly, Beatrice grabbed Joshua by the collar, her expression was deadly
"How could you be so careless Joshua!! " she roared. Joshua, still confused looked behind her
Elder lee was on the phone, he looked troubled. He looked over to Mira, she was holding the base of her uniform and she looked frightened. His eyes landed on her injured knee
It was like the whole world paused, not minding his mum throwing different questions at him, he pushed her aside and ran towards Mira
He grabbed her face with his hands, " Mira! Are you okay? Does it hurt? Are you feeling dizzy? Can you speak?" He asked her all at once. This has never happened so why now, why's her knee bleeding?.
It was just a bruise but Beatrice wasn't happy and wanted to know the origin of the injury while grandpa lee was on the phone with their family doctor to come and have the wound cleaned and disinfected.
"Doctor finn won't be able to make it we'll have to—" he turned around and Joshua was gone taking Mira with him.
Joshua didn't understand why her knee was bleeding and he didn't want to wait around for the result. The moment he heard doctor finn won't, he dashed through the door with Mira in his arms.
The maids and servants outside seeing him dash out like that were all pondering.
He drove with Mira in the back seat to the nearest hospital.
At saint Paul's general hospital, serenade city...
A nurse walks up to fay, "Dr Louis a patient just came in, it's your call".
Fay dropped everything in hand and asked "ward number?"
"213" the nurse replied then left.
Grabbing her stethoscope and placing it around her neck, she made her way to ward 213. She pushed the door open and stepped in.
She's met with what seemed like the back of a man with broad shoulders and somewhat messy hair. She couldn't see the little patient laying on the bed because the man was currently covering the upper half.
She walked towards the bed to get better view. Her pupils dilated her heart raced the moment she saw that the patient was...Mira?....
