After exchanging goblin ears for a handsome sum, Ash, in high spirits, first headed to Beth's stable. He found her still inside, watering the horses from buckets she had fetched from the well in the backyard. It wasn't an easy task for a young lady like her, but unfortunately, she didn't have any other options. Hard work was her only recourse.
However, upon seeing such beauty in need of assistance, Ash's inner knight in shining armour awoke. Ignoring Beth's protests that she didn't require his help, he readily took over the chore of fetching water from the well and filling buckets while Beth carried them to the horses. Though he initially expressed a desire to help her further, one dangerous look from her instantly rendered him obedient, and he never mentioned the topic again.
