Ethan slipped out of the sitting room, leaving Gabriel engrossed in conversation. He yearned for some fresh air and a chance to chat with Mara. He hadn't seen her since they'd arrived in Coleridge, and a strange mix of excitement and apprehension bubbled in his stomach.
He found her in the backyard, bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun.

Curiosity tugging at his thoughts, Ethan cleared his throat, before asking, "Where's Taran?" Mara's reply came effortlessly, her gaze meeting his. "He's been out with his friends since afternoon. He should be back soon."
