Zara explained everything in detail to me.
Some questions like how did it all start and stuff made her stumped as even she was not aware, but still she answered all the things in brief.
All in all, I got the basic things that I needed to know. The most important being my current status.
Not going into complete details, I am the 4th son of the Vincent Family, who was sent to the outskirts city, the City of Knowledge, where I am to find my purpose in life.
Though from Zara's words, it seems like I have been outcast by my family and won't be accepted until I prove myself.
Zara is my mother's father's friend's granddaughter. We kind of knew each other under various circumstances, despite our differences.
As for my current situation, I am a student of Class 1D, which holds the students with zero affinity and there are 20 students in number.
Class 1C holds 15 students with a single affinity.
Class 1B holds 15 students with dual affinity.
Class 1A currently has only 12 students, with each having either triple or quadruple affinity.
There is also a special class 1S which has 6 students with 3 of them with penta affinity, 2 hex affinity and the rare case of septaffinty.
[Author's note: An affinity denotes the ability to manifest other races' abilities. Like using the elves' ability to control mana, or the vampires' ability to control blood.]
Back to basics. I am in Class 1D and have no affinity. The reason such a class exists lies in the weaknesses of other races. Silver for vampires. Stakes for werewolves. Something along those lines.
We can choose a single weapon and try to attain mastery in it.
Though we still have a month before we can choose our weapons and paths.
Other than this, Zora told me a couple of basic things to keep in mind. Like who to talk to and what to talk about and stuff. People tend to look down on those weaker than others and I… am specifically bullied… for being the weakest of the weakest.
After telling me most of the things, Zora left the room as she had to hurry back to her work, while I stood there lost in my own thoughts, sorting them out.
Then a smile creeped up the corner of my lips as I thought…
"This could be fun."
Getting up, I then took the gray uniform and looked at my almost healed foot. The necrosed part was getting peeled off and collecting them all at the same place.
'Hmmm… since it's mostly dead tissue, I won't be able to summon a spirit,' I pondered for a brief moment and then I bit my lips before hovering the finger above the pile of peeled tissue from my legs.
A drop of blood dripped down at the pile, before another did. And after the third drop reached, I then rubbed my finger, stopping the blood flow.
"[Hear me thy Demon of Gluttony! Come feed on the dead remains of the living one!]" I mumbled as I felt a soul gutting pain. The pain stayed for a few seconds as I fell on the ground, barely keeping my consciousness.
Not something I would advise if you haven't experienced a life and death situation a couple of times.
'There is really not a single shred of mana in this body, huh?' I cried inside as I looked at the white floating demon in front of me.
That palm sized gray balloon like a demon with a single red eye.
"Znoua obua aomk?!" Confused, it muttered as it looked at me.
"Yeah, I summoned you. You can have that pile, but in return eat my first blockage," I answered as I looked at it. His wide eyes widened even more as he looked at me.
"Can you understand me?" He asked.
Not answering him, I just looked at him for a couple of moments.
"Not answering? Hmmm… All right. By the contract, I am already bound, so it doesn't matter. Let me look at it… all right, that fits the quota." He analyzed it pretty quickly.
I despise demons… but I learnt to be kind because of a certain someone. Hopefully, it doesn't bite me in the back.
"Here," I raised my hand, more precisely, my wrist. He grinned as he opened up his mouth wide enough to swallow my entire head. Brought it closer to my hand and chewed up to my forearm.
The pain of your arm being chewed wasn't something great. I felt my heart beating rather fast, but it wasn't something that I couldn't handle.
And after eating away my blockage, the demon glowed red as horns appeared on his round body above his eyes.
"Thank you for the meal. Now to clean away the rest," he licked his tongue and then ate away the rest of the pile as his body grew.
His powers might be 3 times more than when he appeared here. I just hope it doesn't cause any unwanted effects.
'Should I just kill him?' I questioned, as I still didn't want to reject it.
"Shriek!!" But he turned to me with fear in his eyes.
"So… I will be… taking my leave…" He spoke with fear-filled eyes before he vanished from there.
And I just sighed.
"Well. At least I could use a bit mana with the restriction removed," I spoke as at least there was something good out of this deal.
Mana is something that anyone can use. But because of racial restrictions, certain blockages are placed on various races to stop them from using mana of other races.
Humans in particular have blockages placed all over their body… hence they don't really should have anything.
'There are many ways to open the blockage but each costs different methods and sacrifices,' I recalled a couple before looking at my hand, generating tiny sparks.
Demons who can eat anything, could easily eat mana filled blockages. Though it is not advisable, as the demon grows much powerful after eating that.
It could be considered taboo for many…
'But it doesn't matter since those who really cared about it are in heaven now,' I smiled as I moved out of the room with the dress in my hands, moving towards the bathroom to get dressed for today's class.
