Chapter 1 - CHAPTER ONE: Mysterious World

"If you were asked a hard question, what would it be? You don't have to answer me, but do think about it. Would it be one about your personal life? Perhaps, one of your love life or past? Whatever it may be, take your time to deeply think about it and answer it in your head. Then ask yourself this: Is this answer too hard to hear aloud?"

A little boy, roughly the age of seven, sat alone by a river. His feet and lower garments soaked in the water. Swing, swing, swing his legs went. He sat alone in a state of melancholy after the pandemonium that fell from the sky but two weeks ago; almost like a rain of beings. Just what would this child know about this? He was left forever scared with the memory of this. He was just with his parents at a gas station when he saw a light. All he wanted were answers with no more loneliness.

The river's currents began to quicken by sundown, the little boy hesitated but crossed over to the greener side of the forest. So curious and captivated by everything around him, he walked forward and began his journey towards the mountains.

A mysterious world indeed, one that is dreamt in dreams. Every little thing in this world came with such beauty and mystery, which filled him with curiosity. A little creature that resembled a deer, but with thicker and shorter antlers, on each side pointier furry ears; with a round physique with light brown spots on its back and thick fur going around its neck. The very tip of its face has a sharp nose with whiskers watching him. There were several smaller versions of it following from behind. The smaller ones only had smaller antlers looking like horns. The appearance of this creature was majestic; he felt like he was lucid dreaming. This peaked his interest and approached it. The creature imitated him, looking him square in the eyes. The little boy reached out his hand; it held berries he'd found along the way. He only picked them earlier because he saw other creatures eating them, so he assumed they weren't poisonous. The deer-like creature took the berries, giving it to her young, who made strange noises that somehow resembled a Sho.

To his surprise, the deer-like creature flinched and scrambled out of sight. Its little minis imitated it as if their lives were in danger too. The little child felt a force sending him falling down on his behind. He whipped his head around for possible dangers. He looked up, down, left, and right. But he didn't see anything. Suddenly his vision went dark. He was shoved in a bag! This child screamed as if he were at the market, and his mother said "no" only this kid wasn't at the market, he was being kidnapped. He struggled with fear, and all he could hear were several distorted voices talking to each other. There were words like "take him, we can just cook him" and "No! He's too small for cooking!" and "What the hell is wrong with you, he's just a kid!" "You fuckers really thought I was gonna cook him! I only need him to tell us where he got those berries from! I'm starving!"

With every word, the little kid screamed and kicked his way out of the bag. "HEY! You shit kid, where do you think you're going! Just where the fuck did you get those berries?!" said the one with a huge beer belly. The kid was so frightened he started bawling and throwing little useless punches. For some reason, there were only two people here. He could have sworn there were three different voices! There was just a woman and a middle aged beer bellied man, but no third man. All of a sudden, he felt two hands grasp his two skinny arms from behind. But he couldn't see who was holding him! This made the kid start screaming and kicking like a feral animal out for blood.

The beer bellied man slapped the defenseless child, grasped his shirt, and yelled "Get yourself together and tell us where you got those berries, or else!" In response, the child only spat in his eyes, which made him go furious. As he raised his hand to strike, the woman behind caught his hand in mid air and threw him onto the floor. The woman yelled at the top of her lungs, "THAT IS NOT HOW YOU HANDLE KIDS!!! And YOU get your hands off him!" All of a sudden, the hands that gripped him became loose. The woman was tackled onto the ground, unable to move, but still struggled to kick and throw helpless punches into the air. Laughing could be heard as the male voice mocked her, "Oh what!? You can't see me, can you? HAHAHA! You look so pitiful throwing those useless punches in the air like that! I just might be god! AHAHAHA"

The woman furiously yelled, "YOU DELUSIONAL PEI-"

As the woman was on the floor in pain, the invisible man took her by the hair to pick her up, which freighted the boy who started trembling so hard he might just start an earthquake.

"HAHA, I really love this. I can even get used to it! PFT-HAHAHA"

The woman felt so humiliated she forgot the little boy was still standing there shocked, "Kid, snap out of it! RUN!" But it was too late, the beer belly man got up and chased after him. The kid ran as fast as he could through the forest, yet ran into a dead end. There was a huge elevated stone wall that blocked his way. There was no escape, he turned around and with the little fight left in him. He decided to fight the middle aged man hand to hand. Suddenly, the woman from before caught up, but tripped on a rock. She was in pretty bad shape and trembled as she extended her hand. Suddenly a man jumped down, however it looked like he slowly descended from heaven as he raised his two right fingers and flung the two men, sending them into the air. He had some sort of telekinesis powers, which he used to reveal the invisible man. The invisible man's hair was golden like the sun's rays and taller than the latter. The kid stood there in awe, he remembered the woman on the floor, who also watched in a hypnotized state. The kid ran to her, knowing her good intentions. "How dare you lay a hand on a woman and her child?" said the heavenly enchanting man.

The invisible now visible man struggled, "No no, that's not her child! She came with us!"

"Is this true woman?" As the mysterious man spoke, he looked at her with indifference.

"Yes, but they were willing to harm this child for just a couple bites of food. I did not feel like it was right, so I intervened."

"What is true child? Did she defend you?" The little boy nodded and blocked the woman from his sight. "Do not worry, I shall do you or her no harm. Now tell me, what are your names?"

The woman stood up and spoke, "My name is Lillian Vondri. I'm from Arkansas, and this little boy, I'm not quite sure."

"M-my my name is DaoMing, I'm from America…"

The woman seemed to let her guard down, asking, "And your name is?…"

"Oh how rude of me, my name is Griffith Einar." The mysterious man flung the visible man away and walked up to them with a smile. "I shall take you under my care. I am actually not alone. My group set up camp towards the edge of the forest, where strange and gifted people planted a healthy garden. The both of you will be safe there. I'll just use my powers to get us there faster. Don't be afraid and relax."

All of a sudden Lillian and DaoMing started floating in mid air. Griffith took Lillian by the hand, which astounded her. She was literally whisked away and softly landed on her feet on the elevated ground. Both set eyes at each other, there were sparks flying, and a dead cold star revived, igniting the whole universe. And then there was DaoMing, who didn't catch anything and solely gave his full attention towards a rock. He picked up the rock to distract himself or forget what just happened. With his imagination, he thought of it as a cool looking rock. It was just a rock, but DaoMing thought it was a "cool" rock now. He thought of Lillian, who just took punches for his safety, and instantly ran up to her to show it off.

After a while of awkward silence, they began their walk to the edge of the forest. The great big trees seemed to get scarcer the more they walked. They could already hear other people's voices, some laughing, not worried by the smallest little things; others talked about how food has gotten scarce the more people joined. It honestly looked like a big community of thirty or more people, including children. There were many "beds" and many fire pits scattered around the area. But the most noticeable group of them all were people panicking and losing their minds. Among them, there was an abnormally large humanoid figure with a pumpkin head that somehow screamed as if it were sentient. Its vines flew around like crazy, trying to find its own face. There was a tall strong woman with curly red wine hair. Her face showed little patience towards the situation. She managed to pin it down successfully, as everyone would rush over to cut off the access vines. To Lillian, it appeared, as if this was a daily occurrence and was normal to everyone. It's only been a couple weeks since the incident, and now people are grown accustomed to this bizarre world.

Little DaoMing was somewhat disturbed by the view, he held Lillian's hand. Lillian's heart trembled, she proceeded to calm him down, "It's alright, I'm here. They won't hurt you as long as I'm here. Okay? Griffith, what's that?"

Griffith took a look and chuckled, "That might be a person who's taken the form of a pumpkin. We actually named him Jack. I know, I know, hear me out. All the people here, when we all fell out of the portals in the sky, were changed in some way. At that height, we all would have died, but we haven't. I've met a real goat man these days. Look over, his name is Robert last name is GoatMan. He said he was a farmer and was teleported while in the mountains. And over there is Ichtaka Tototl; he is an indigenous to the lands of Mexico. He lived researching eagles, and now when he feels like it, he can turn into one no matter how big or small. And I have been given the gift of telekinesis. Back on earth, I was a judge for twelve years, yet I don't know why I have these powers. And I'm thirty-seven! Never in a million years would I have imagined such a thing!"

Lillian thought about it and nodded, "Wow, I've only seen so much. From the loony creatures to a man who can turn invisible; I've only been able to make flowers bloom. I have noticed my powers can be influenced by my feelings. But it tires me out, so I don't use them. I am actually a kindergarten and preschool teacher."

Little DaoMing held onto Griffith's lower garments and asked, "Will we be able to live with you?"

"Yeah, don't worry about it. I bet you'll even make friends here! Haha, come follow me, I bet you two are hungry. I'll take you to Jasper. I found her yesterday all alone, and she's pretty scared from the incident. She barely eats, maybe you can try lifting her spirits up a little. You can even show her your rock. Lillian, maybe you can even work some of the teacher magic on her."

They arrived at a large tent where a blonde girl with uneven hair and eyes was as brown as chocolate. Sat on a bench lost in her own world, but what was more noticeable about her was how skinny she looked and how her eyes drooped. Griffith gave two fruits to DaoMing to share and assured him, "Little DaoMing, please give one of these to Jasper. She is around your age, and is in need of a friend. You see, she's been sad and doesn't like to be with the other children. So please be nice to her." Little DaoMing walked to her and awkwardly stretched out his arm, offering an apple. At first Jasper looked at him, and then the apple. Simply just alternating her set of focus. This made DaoMing quite bashful, so he lifted his other arm, now offering a second apple. From afar, Lillian and Griffith awed at the adorable scene occurring right in front of their eyes.

Griffith took Lillian aside to take care of the wounds on her face. He broke the silence between them to explain that some people want to start a new organization that gives refuge to those who need it, while others want to make an organization against crime that could help protect victims, such as herself. He truly did not know what to think of this, he desperately needed someone else's opinion on the topic. To his surprise, Lillian came up with an idea which kind of merged the two together. This made Griffith extremely thrilled.

Since the prairie was vastly large, they had plenty of land to claim and build on. So both of them decided to work together with others to create a plan that would work.

A few months later, something happened to the sentient Pumpkin Jack. One morning, the pumpkin just grew vine arms and legs. Its head was completely obliterated. But by some miracle, just three days later Jack reappeared! This time it had vines in the form of a body; it even had defined fingers. Jack would aimlessly walk around. On that day, someone was careless to leave a knife near it; It was as if Jack already knew what it was without being able to see. As soon as it took the knife, it began to stab at its head carving a circle. The scene was truly terrifying to the children witnessing this horrific act. By some miracle Jack spoke, "I CAN SEE, I CAN SEE!!"

Everyone was completely dumbfounded, except for Griffith, who yelled "I knew it, I knew it! See, I told you so! Haha most of you didn't believe me!" Griffith was extremely happy; and Jack was infinitely grateful towards Griffith. It turns out, Jack was able to hear everything around him. Ever since the first day he'd been found and picked up. After that, Jack was able to walk and talk among them as one of their own. He did have to learn to control his ability to grow vines.

Another month has passed, and the people themselves created a whole new culture that embraced the new world NyxE. Heavily influenced by Jack, Lillianand Griffith. Of course, there were others who still clung to earth, cultures, and old lives. Those people gathered together and left west to live on their own. They explored and conquered forests, mountains, deserts, and oceans.

There is so much to discover on NyxE that many chose to leave their old lives, names, and memories for COPESS. COPESS is the containment and oppression that lands power in the wrong hands. The expression of the culture is to seek strength and turn it into something new.

In the first year of construction, the people decided to vote on leaders who would carry the heavy weight to grow COPESS, the council. This council is made up of five people known as the wise ones. The chosen leader of the five is Griffith Einar. The second member is Ichtaka Tototl, the fiercest and most traditional of all. The third member chosen was Michael Ivan, who is an architect and inventor. Fourth member, the kindest and motherly to all, Lillian Vondril. And lastly, the youngest of the bunch and most feared Keahi; she was gifted with the power of strength. Together, they will run all of COPESS and embrace the daystar.
