Chapter 73 - INTERVIEW WITH THE CONTROL FREAK

INTERVIEW WITH THE CONTROL FREAK

"The Medicine Affinity is his way of covering up his true magic. He made sure the whole of Tarah city knows that he is a Medicine Affinity", Conjurer Iras told them to my surprise.

"Are you not a Medicine Affinity?" Illiwyn asked me but I did not reply to her.

"How did you know he is not a Medicine Affinity?" Anitor asked Iras.

"When he made 1000 stars on the Conjuration Sphere", he told them.

"He what? 1000 stars?" Epius asked Iras.

"You all must have missed the Conjurer Apprentice Audition. He's the only one who was conferred on that day", Iras told them.

"What? Aren't there supposed to be a hundred places", Iviar asked him.

"There are but the recipients are all in the hospital", Iras told them.

"Really? Food poisoning?" Illiwyn asked him.

"You should ask the new guy how he did it?" Iras said to them as he pointed at me.

"How did you poison them?" Illiwyn asked me.

"We have a poison master here with us now?" Iviar asked the group curiously.

"No, I didn't poison them, I merely paid them money to lose to me in the fights", I told them.

"What does achieving a 1000 star in the Conjuration Sphere mean?" Eless asked.

"It means he is an Angel Affinity?" Illiwyn asked and speculated.

"Damnit, this is a waste of my time. I'm leaving", I told Conjurer Iras.

"Don't worry, your secrets are safe with us. We value our sect's privacy and secrets, and even our partners' secrets", Eless said to me.

"Are you sure, you defeated ninety-nine conjurers and K.O'ed them?" Iviar asked me.

"You should read the illustrations in our newspaper", I told him.

"Your newspaper?" Epius asked me.

"Yes, the Herald Times, Earl Oriese of Kaleon owns it", Conjurer Iras told them to their shock and surprise.

"And he's also a nobleman?" Anitor asked.

"Is he qualified to work with us now?" Iras asked his sect members.

"But he is just an apprentice", Iviar said to them.

"He just obtained his fourth star on his badge today", Conjurer Iras told them.

"Are you sure, didn't the Apprentice Audition just finish a few weeks ago? He's already a Conjurer?" Anitor asked.

"Wait a minute, I didn't say I needed your help against the Aqrabuamelu", I told them.

"Trust me, you will need us for the mission", Conjurer Iras offered to help me.

"Why should we beg him for the mission anyway, let him do it himself if he thinks he is so capable", Iviar said to them about me.

"Because this is not a mission from the Mission Center. This is a mission from Seamus the Meek, one of the original Supreme Conjurers of the Conjurer Court. Even though this mission wasn't given to us, we should ensure its successful completion. The Original will not give out a mission without very good reason that will have implications for the Conjurer Court", Iras told them.

"The original Supreme gave you the mission?" Illiwyn asked me.

"Well, sort of", I replied to her.

"I don't believe it. Why will an Original Supreme give a mission to a nobody like you?" Iviar asked me.

"Maybe it's because he is also the sole disciple of another Original Supreme", Conjurer Iras said to them.

"Who is that?" they asked me in shock.

"Galadriel the Timid?" I replied to them.

"Unbelievable", Epius said to them.

"But we have a minimum requirement for joining our sect's mission. Our members must have reached the legendary ranking", Anitor said to us.

"Yup, I don't meet the qualification. Ciao", I said to them.

"That you don't have to worry about. He has reached at least a Yellow Tier Legendary Level 2, although that could be because he reached the limits of our machines", Iras told them about me.

"How did you know about that? I didn't even get tested in the Legendary ranking", I told him.

"You took on the name of Orion when you took the Legendary ranking didn't you?" he asked me to my surprise.

"How did you find out?" I asked him.

"All your bodyguards were tested in the Legendary ranking with you, and they are still escorting you around except the one called Orion. In fact, nobody has ever seen Orion together with you and he appeared only once, during the Legendary ranking test," he said to me.

"What, are you kidding me? Even his bodyguards are Legendary ranked?" Iviar asked.

"That doesn't mean anything", I told him.

"I would guess you disguised your looks somehow and took the rankings test in anonymity, but you were betrayed by the powerful companions who went with you. That is the only reasonable explanation for achieving a 1000 star in the Conjuration sphere, unless the real Orion comes out to prove otherwise", Conjurer Iras told me.

"Damnit, I should have taken the test alone", I complained to myself.

"So, will we be joining with you on the Supreme's mission?" Iras asked me.

"On one condition, I will direct this mission and everything the Control Freak sees and hears during the mission will be absolutely confidential", I told him.

"Agreed", Iras agreed with me on behalf of the Control Freak.

----

The Conjurer Court comprised officially registered conjurers who are under the guidance of formidable Master Conjurers. These skilled leaders assume distinct roles within the Conjurer's Court and collectively oversee its operations.

Additionally, every Master Conjurer assembled groups of conjurers into sects, fostering a cooperative environment where members collaborate to enhance their magical abilities and undertake various missions and quests. Notably, some Master Conjurers commanded expansive sects consisting of thousands of conjurers. These sects undertook a diverse array of tasks, including managing hunting expeditions, operating magic schools, and even owning multiple enterprises within Tarah city.

The larger sects function as self-contained institutions, boasting substantial revenue streams. However, this structure also leads to higher expenditures as the income must be distributed among numerous members.

In contrast, Conjurer Iras has adopted a distinct approach to sect management. He advocates for keeping sects relatively small to ensure each member can contribute fully and receive a more substantial portion of the profits.
