Chapter 268 - RISE OF THE SKELETON KING

RISE OF THE SKELETON KING

"It is the same magic as the magic in Uchalis city", Asterix confirmed with me.

Last time when we saw the casting of the magic in Uchalis city, I asked my earpods to record it. Asterix could access my database to confirm if it was the same as the magic being prepared and cast here.

Suddenly, the magic arraye in Sunset Garden was finally activated.

"It has begun", Asterix told us.

"Are we going to allow them to proceed?" Chash asked me.

"Why not? We enjoy the show", I replied to him.

"I don't understand. We should stop them now while we can", Ratatouille protested.

"This is not the first time that Kolgane is trying this kind of trick. Stopping his casting will not stop him from attempting the same again in the future", I replied to them.

------

From the depths of the earth, skeletal figures and revenants clawed their way to the surface, drawn forth by a mystical force that summoned them from their eternal rest.

These undead beings, animated by an otherworldly power, shuffled towards the epicenter of the call.

At the heart of this unholy spectacle stood a figure of regal bearing, a prince among men or perhaps a king among kings.

He commanded not only the living, but also the reclaimed dead who now pledged their allegiance to him. As the skeletons and corpses converged around him, they underwent a transformation, sacrificing themselves to imbue their monarch with their arcane essence.

With each passing moment, the king's dormant powers surged to life, his form crackling with newfound energy. The once-slumbering ruler now awakened as the Skeleton King, a formidable and fearsome presence to behold.

His skeletal visage bore the marks of time, with bones weathered and worn, emanating an eerie glow from the depths of his hollow sockets.

Adorned in the remnants of ancient armor, corroded by the passage of time, the Skeleton King exuded an aura of ancient malevolence.

In his grasp, he wielded a massive scimitar, forged from the realm of the dead, it seemed to devour all life around it. The blade thrummed with a hunger for conflict, emitting a spectral wail with each swing, echoing the anguish of the undead existence.

Thus, the Skeleton King emerged, ready to unleash his wrath upon the world.

-----

"Is this the new Lich King?" Chash asked.

"This is not the Lich King. He is something else", Meera commented to us about the Skeleton King before us.

"Rise of the Skeleton King"

"Something about him has the signature of the Blood Queen all over", I told them about my opinion.

"Did the Blood Queen redo his curse to become a skeleton instead of a lich?" Chash asked us.

"It is possible although I don't know what the difference between a lich and a skeleton is?" Cassandra replied and asked us.

"The Lich King's magic is limited by the need to feed on living beings. The Skeleton on the other hand only needs the bones in the ground", I told them.

"I don't know if there is any difference between the two, they are both vile undead", Cassandra asked.

"It is far easier and quicker to awaken his powers with skeletons, especially in a city where there are unfriendly forces governing, all the Skeleton King needs is a mass grave without a need to alert anybody", I explained to them of my theory.

We quickly lit a flare.

"Wee woo wee woo"

Loud alarms were heard as the city was alerted by the appearance of the Skeleton King.

The city's guards and the apostles were on their way here. Even conjurers were called from the Conjurer's court toward Sunset Garden, the site of the awakening of the Skeleton King.

------

"It is fortunate that you predicted this beforehand otherwise the reaction to the Skeleton King's rise will not be this quick", Iras said to me when we met up with the Control Freaks.

"The Skeleton King will not be our biggest problem", I told them.

"Are you sure, this skeleton creep is already big enough trouble?", Iviar replied to me.

"The Demon Queen will not create the Skeleton King in the middle of our city for no reason causing great alarm. This event will not be solitary", I said to them.

"What should we do then?" Iras asked me.

"We need to be prepared for the worst", I replied to him.

"In that case, I must return to the Conjurer Court first to organize a major defense just in case", Iras told us as he quickly returned to the Conjurer Court, leaving the Skeleton King for us to deal with.

The Skeleton King was now much larger and taller than the buildings around him. He wreaked havoc on the city as he smashed the buildings around him.

He was on a rampage and many innocent lives would be lost before we could stop him.

"Why does the Skeleton King attack the residents? He should flee the moment he heard our sirens. Isn't he afraid of us?" Anitor asked me.

"Because it is job here to fight with us. Killing innocent people is a part of what he does and plan to do", I replied to him.

"Should we fight him now?" Chash asked me.

"No hurry, we should let the apostles and the church deal with him first. We need to know what he is capable of first. We have not dealt with him before", I replied to them.

Apostles surrounded the Skeleton King, firing their magical sword beams at the monster. But the monster's body was extremely tough. Even the magic of the apostles couldn't harm the Skeleton King by much.

Suddenly, the hand of the Skeleton King broke away from him and flew toward the apostles.

"That Skeleton King's skeleton is so fragile. It can break so easily", Epius told us and commented.

"He probably broke his hand on purpose", Ratatouille replied to him.

Skeleton King's hand reached the apostles to grab and crush them. The apostles instinctively went on defensive and conjured magical shields to defend themselves.

While the Skeleton's hand was over the apostles like a cage that imprisoned them, his hand regrew again where it was broken before.

The Skeleton King grew back his broken hands.

"Breaking Hand Prisons"
