Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 : Viridian Forest

------2 Weeks after the One stop graduation----------------

The clearing in Viridian Forest had become a familiar spot for me and my growing team of Pokémon. As I approached, the rustling of leaves and the hum of wings greeted my ears. To my surprise, as I opened the storage box, a swarm of Beedrill surrounded me, their eyes fixed on the promise of treats.

With a casual command, "Stay in line if you want your treat," I witnessed the most assertive members forming a rough line.

Their arrangement seemed to follow an unspoken hierarchy, with the youngest Beedrill taking the lead, while the older and stronger members at the surroundings. It was a testament to the unique social structure of these Pokémon, based on their protective instincts.

During this impromptu gathering, I hummed a tune, a habit from my past life. Michael Jackson's melodies filled the air as I prepared Pokeblocks from the berries brought by my buzzing companions.

The Beedrill, are a formidable species no matter the place in the wild, with them here the clearing became a safe zone within the Viridian Forest.

Elekid, my starter, returned from his sparring sessions with the stronger members of the Beedrill community. Scratches adorned his body, evidence of his determination and commitment to training.

Alongside Elekid, Weedle emerged, seemingly enjoying the camaraderie among its evolved companions.

Weedle, in particular, had reaped the most benefits from our venture into Viridian Forest. The data and insights from Giovanni's advice about accumulation prompted me to adjust and enhance his diet. The Pokeblocks, meticulously crafted from the gathered berries, now contained a richer blend of nutrients, catering to the increasing intensity of our training sessions.

Grateful for the hospitality of the Beedrill community, I had set up camp near their nests.

Viridian Forest, teeming with a diverse range of Pokémon, offered ample opportunities for training and encounters.

The forest statistics spoke volumes about its biodiversity—68% bug types, 60% grass types, and 42% flying types in Kanto.

Over the past two weeks, I encountered various talented Pokémon during my excursions.

However, I consciously avoided Spearow, well aware of the challenges posed by their pack mentality.

One standout discovery was a talented Pidgey, its growth speed evident in the three-stage evolution it could undergo. Yet, its personality presented a unique challenge, and motivating it to its full potential remained uncertain. The reason is that I already had my hands full with the problem child in my team.

EEEVVeeeee

In addition to Elekid and Weedle, a pampered Eevee adorned with a soft pink scarf had become a part of our team. Unlike Elekid and Weedle, who possessed their intrinsic motivations for strength and hard work, this little girl displayed a certain laziness befitting a spoiled background.

EEEVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Her spoiled attitude was further increased under the influence of both Elekid and Weedle, her seniors in the team. Since she was the only girl in the group and also the youngest. Yes, it is younger than Weedle.

Yet, in the midst of it all, I realized that I, too, played a part in spoiling her. It had the best since its birth, which I took a step further by providing a variety of tasteful poke blocks meticulously made years back for preparation for catching an Eevee one day. But it bites me in the ass.

Negotiating daily sparring sessions with Eevee had taken weeks of effort, considering her initially spoiled demeanour.

Now, I seemed to understand Ash back then, while it is easy to say to be stern and all that. It is fucking tough in reality.

I couldn't deny the reality that Eevee's species growth rate lagged behind that of Weedle. Even Weedle itself with its rapid growth rate is playing a long catch-up with Elekid. It was a daunting task for Eevee to catch up.

In light of these considerations, I decided to treat Eevee as more of a mascot than a primary contender for the Indigo conference battles. While she would engage in spars and receive training, the primary focus remained on Elekid and Weedle, who were showing tremendous progress and dedication.

She can grow stronger at her own pace, after all, I came here to fill my entire team. One more spot to fill will make no difference.

As I prepared to embark on another day of exploration, I opened the map and traced a new path back to find the two prospective members I had identified in the past 2 weeks.

The new path will help find a new member. Since I am going through peaceful species like Oodish, meowths and some odd flock of HootHoots.

However, the familiar growls of approaching Kakunas and Weedles signalled the need for the work I had left. Such is the price of safety.

EEEVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Lifted the biting little girl and said, "Bad girl. Do you want to be called ugly?"

EEEEEEEvvvEEEvVve

I shook her with my hands, so that she dropped her fake tears expression, "Listen, my beautiful princess."

She tilted her head with an adorable charm and a sound of EEVEE.

"I will feed you first, but if you bite my pants ever again, I will put some hot and sour chillies in your poke block,"

Her vigorous nods showed I got my point across. I guess the punishment system for Eevee is a work in progress.

As I prepared the Pokeblocks for my Pokémon, the distinctive hum of Rotomdex signified its return from a scanning expedition. The metal ball swiftly traversed the air, and Rotomdex materialized in front of me with a series of precise beeps.

"Archer, I've gathered pertinent data," Rotomdex reported with a composed demeanour.

"Share your findings, Rotomdex. What have you discovered?" I inquired, setting aside my preparations to focus on the floating Pokédex.

"The scanned area as indicated in the map boasts a significant concentration of aggressive Pokémon. From Potentially friendly territorial Beedrill colonies to highly assertive Carnivine bunches. " Rotomdex conveyed, projecting holographic images displaying the aggressive species.

The holographic display then transitioned to reveal elusive and rare Pokémon such as Scyther, recognized for its speed and lethal scythes, and even a few mischievous Haunters ready for pranks.

"Virdrian forest is the cradle of Pokemon," I commented, acknowledging the diverse array of species.

"That's not all, Archer. Exercise vigilance, as there are also dangerous Arbok's roaming around in the vicinity " Rotomdex added, its digital eyes reminding dutifully with even more of a work mentality compared to me.

"Thank you for the information, Rotomdex. But I will be fine if it is only an occasional lone Pokemon. It will be good training for Elekid. Anyways. Thanks again. " I expressed gratitude, recognizing the serious and diligent nature of Rotomdex's analysis.

The Rotomdex soon started uploading the Data to my AI

[Data receiving. Duration left: 15 days]

Sigh. I am stumped about how to increase the upload of information. Otherwise, with enough data, I would have scored the first rank in other fields upon graduation.

This thought got me thinking. Since when did I grow this greedy?

-------The next day------

In the heart of Viridian Forest, the dappled sunlight filtered through the thick canopy, creating a natural arena for Elekid's training session. As the air buzzed with the sounds of slashes.

Elekid faced his opponent - an agile Scyther.

"Elekid, let's show him true speed. Dodge and weave!" I commanded as the Scyther lunged forward with a sharp Slash of its scythe-like arms.

Elekid responded with effortlessly sidestepping the attack and countering with a Quick Attack to the side.

The improvement in Elekid's movements was evident; he exhibited a newfound control over his Quick Attack, changing directions seamlessly back towards the scyther.

This showcased the dedication and effort we had put into refining his quick attack, finally able to change the direction while executing it.

"Now, seize the opportunity! Thunder Punch!" I directed, and Elekid, fueled by electricity, propelled himself towards the Scyther.

However, the Scyther, with its innate raw combat instincts, evaded the Thunder Punch with a graceful bend of its back.

Anticipating the Scyther's countermove, I swiftly commanded, "Discharge!" Elekid released a burst of stored electricity, creating an electrifying field around him.

But the Scyther, even while caught off guard, commenced with a Fury attack that sent Elekid flying from the numerous slashes.

"Fuck."

Nice combat I.Q from the Bug-type. He has only shown Slash till now, waiting until the right opportunity to use the Fury attack.

"Come on Elekid. Charge."

I swelled with pride as Elekid started charging even while getting up.

Unfortunately for Scyther, as he tried to attack the paralyzing effects of the discharge shown. Its movements become sluggish and constrained.

"Excellent, Elekid! Now, let's finish this. Run with Charge and hit it with Thunder Punch!" I instructed, capitalizing on the Scyther's temporary vulnerability.

Elekid, energized by the charge, unleashed a powerful Thunder Punch, landing a direct hit on the Scyther.

The combination of charge and thunder punch, made the electricity cover the right half of Elekid, making him give out an electric glow in the shadows of the forest. I watched in pride as he overwhelmed the Scyther, striking his fist into the head of the Bug-type.

ELLLLEEEEEEEEkKKKKIDDDDDDDDDD

I made my way to my starter as he cried out in victory. I patted his head and got to work.

"Elekid, you did exceptionally well. Your Quick Attack has improved, and the Thunder Punch had a good impact, despite Scyther's evasion skills. We just need to work on your close combat techniques a bit more," I murmured, praising my electric companion.

As Rotomdex continued its scans, I took out a small medical kit from my backpack and began treating Elekid's slash wounds. The healing process was important to ensure Elekid's quick recovery and readiness for future battles.

While tending to Elekid, my mind wandered to the earlier confrontation. The battle with Scyther had been a valuable experience, revealing both Elekid's strengths and areas that needed refinement. The constant improvement and evolution of our strategies were vital for success in the competitive world of Pokémon training.

"Rotomdex, what's the status on Elekid's Charge move? Any noticeable changes?" I inquired, eager to understand the impact of the converter's effects on this particular move.

Rotomdex displayed graphs and charts, detailing the increased capacity of Elekid's electrical sacs and the efficiency of the Charge move. The information provided insights into the enhancements brought about by the converter.

"Excellent," I muttered, noting the positive changes. "Now, let's focus on creating a training regimen to further develop these improvements. We'll integrate more close combat drills and fine-tune the Thunder Punch accuracy. AI starts the new updates based on the Data sent by Rotomdex."

A display was sent back to Rotomdex by AI. Finally, it is much more comfortable to see. Until rotomdex was made, AI would have directly put the information into my brain, it's not like hearing or seeing. It is like an entirely different sense but one that also seems to be connected to the brain. I can't wait to find its inner workings one day.

[End of Report]

As I approached the defeated Scyther, its once fierce gaze was now fixed on the sky. Rotomdex's efficient scanning coupled with AI processing had played a crucial role in locating this guy.

A month of diligent scanning had finally paid off, turning what began as preparation into a stroke of luck.

This Scyther was a few years senior to Elekid, a testament to its species' potential for combat in the wild since it is Elekid's rival.

Scyther had long been recognized as a warrior Pokémon, known for its heightened combat intelligence and a natural inclination towards strength training. However, this very nature often made it challenging for them to coexist in groups.

Their reluctance to follow commands, even in the face of strength differences, often led to internal strife. In rare cases where a hierarchy did form, power struggles were inevitable.

Understanding these dynamics, I had Elekid focus on defeating the Scyther in its specialized area of close combat.

I believed that challenging the battle-hungry Pokémon in its forte would not only showcase Elekid's abilities but also convey a hidden message about the superiority of Elekid.

Especially considering the general power of electric Pokémon in ranged attacks.

The strategy seemed to have worked, as the defeated Scyther lay there, its once indomitable spirit now subdued by the strength of a well-prepared Elekid. It is easy to identify its respect towards Elekid and then me, due to being his trainer.

As Scyther knelt, signalling its acceptance, I swiftly hurled a Poké Ball towards it. The atmosphere hung in suspense as I awaited the verdict.

BEEP

The first beep resonated, a subtle pulse of anticipation rippling through the air. Weedle and Eevee emerged from their respective Poké Balls, joining the collective focus on the imminent capture.

BEEP

With the second beep, a subtle tension heightened. Even the typically composed Rotomdex displayed a hint of nervousness, its digital hums taking on a more dynamic cadence. The air was charged with a sense of anticipation as the third beep approached.

BEEP

Then, the third beep echoed, marking the decisive moment. The Poké Ball sealed its fate, capturing the Scyther within its confines. As the device clicked shut, a wave of collective relief washed over us.

I couldn't contain my excitement, and I threw my arms into the air, exclaiming to the heavens, "I caught a Scyther!"

Amidst my jubilation, the surrounding Pokémon celebrated in their way.

Elekid, the valiant Electric-type, crackled with energy, releasing sparks into the air as if expressing its joy. Weedle, though not known for overt displays, contentedly wriggled its body, the tiny creature seemingly sharing in the collective triumph. Eevee, the princess of the team, let out a delighted trill and wagged its tail in approval.

Each Pokémon contributes to the festive atmosphere in its unique manner. Even Rotomdex, usually stoic, emitted a series of cheerful beeps, showcasing its form of digital enthusiasm. The clearing echoed with the sounds of joy as I released Scyther who was welcomed with a collective greeting -

"""""" Welcome to the team.""""""
