Margaret walked over to Cecilia's side and quietly asked a few questions, gaining a better understanding of the details of the argument.
When Peggy initially stopped Charlotte, she simply wanted Charlotte to go to the estate and apologize to Bella. However, Charlotte refused to go, insisting that she didn't intentionally cling to Brandy. Peggy wanted her to explain to Bella in person, but Charlotte hesitated, seemingly afraid of facing potential blame and awkwardness.
So the conflict escalated.
"Excessive dependence due to shock can be understood, especially since the situation at the time was so perilous," Rebecca frowned, speaking softly to Margaret. "Miss Charlotte probably hasn't experienced anything like this before, so her reaction was more extreme. But since Lady Portman was hurt by this, she should apologize and soothe the other party's emotions."
