The figures of the ten people soon disappeared from my sight. They all dispersed in search of anything that could be considered as food or a potential source of sustenance.
This enthusiastic reaction… I was grateful for it. The reason for this is that I realized that I didn't really have to do the same thing as they were doing at the moment. Instead of focusing on minuscule tasks that anyone could do, I could focus on figuring out the best training routine that won't take long to show apparent results.
No one but me has the ability to do so, so I have to be the one who takes responsibility for this kind of task that requires modern knowledge.
Knowing my responsibilities as a leader, I began to brainstorm the things that I would have to do in order to fulfill my agenda.
As for what these responsibilities are…
First of all, I had already made everyone united towards a common goal, with me as their anchor point. I had already brought down a solution to them for troubling days. And now, the responsibility left was to lead them effectively—a task often considered the most challenging.
"Short time, stamina, and most likely good flexibility…" I muttered to myself as I was formulating the perfect training necessary for them to be prepared against our enemies.
As for how their diet would be, that I did not know yet. Their metabolism is way too unfamiliar for me after all. I most definitely will have to go through trials and errors to figure it all out.
It was taking quite a while for the ten of them to come back. Contemplating why, I figured that it might be because of how much of a proper result they wanted to show me.
Or they might just be looking for me. Haha… Should I check on them, maybe?
I decided not to. It might be a long wait, but it has not been a day or more yet. This means that nothing bad has happened to them, hopefully, and that it's only so that they need some time for them to adapt to figuring things out on their own.
'Alright, that's enough about them. Let's focus on what I need to improve on!' I said to myself in my mind, before I began stretching my body a little.
Although I was one with my body, it seemed that there was still a lot for me to improve on. My stretchability, my mind-muscle connection, and perhaps only a bit of an annoyance, the size of my body still felt unfamiliar.
Even though I had reincarnated and was living a new life, I still seemed to be more inclined towards my body on earth.
"What a shame," I muttered.
I would have to build everything from scratch, now that I am in a skinny and different-like body.
…
A few minutes passed, and I was already in the middle of doing some push-ups when the strawberry guy returned, accompanied by the others not too far behind him. They had finished their hunt for insects. Not only that but as I looked at their faces, I noticed there was something they couldn't wait to tell me about.
'Have they found something even better?' I couldn't help but get my hopes up at the thought.
"Lots of centipedes!" They all shouted at me at the same time.
I was not left disappointed after hearing what they told me, fortunately. Some of them may have sounded different and may have said something else than centipedes, but they all meant the same thing. A weird feature of my brain was telling me the words centipedes, a bazillion of them!
"Where did you find them?" I asked curiously and wondered where they had found so many centipedes, so suddenly and randomly!
As if they had already expected my question, they ran off without even saying a thing. They were likely running off to the location where they had found the centipede's giant nest… I followed them, aware of this.
We passed by a multitude of buildings. The location where the ten were running off seemed to be very far, at the northern side of the prison area of mine, strafing a bit east from the light in the center of the town.
It wasn't far from the northern border of the town when I stopped running. The others had stopped running, waiting for me instead in this random place that seemed like any other part of the town.
Seeing that we'd arrived in a place that didn't give off even a single clue about there being centipedes around, not even one of the thousand they had mentioned, I was naturally filled with some questions and doubts.
I did not display such uncertainties however, because that would be incompetent for me to do as a leader. It would mean that I had no patience or wisdom to hear my subordinates out.
"Come take a look over here," the strawberry guy urged as he approached me, signaling for me to hurry up while I was still making my way towards them.
Following the guy to see whether he truly had found something or if he had eaten a mushroom that made him high, I ended up facing the wall of a building. The both of us stood before the building's wall, looking like complete idiots as we stared at it for a full whole minute!
"Wow… It seems this ordinary looking wall is made out of a wall after all! Haha!" I let out a sarcastic remark.
Perhaps it was because of how obvious my sarcastic remark was, the guy tried to explain himself in a hurry!
"It's not the wall!" He spoke as he crouched down to look at the bottom of the building. I noticed some cracks down there.
Seeing this, I went down on one of my knees to have a better look. It didn't take too long before I stood back up. I was disappointed!
"Nothing over here, pal," I told him and shrugged my shoulders. There was really nothing peculiar to inspect.
However, the guy did not give up after hearing my words. He was very determined to prove his words right, it seemed.
"Earlier, over here… Yeah, I definitely stepped at this place to check for any small holes that centipedes might hide in. That's when suddenly-"
All of a sudden, I could no longer hear the guy's voice…
