Chapter 32 - Progress

From Saturday, Vincent started the drills given to him by Daniel. It was even intense because the system interfered.

He couldn't as much refuse because when he did there was a punishment.

However, when he completed each drills, he received a one time use to summon a reinvigorating coffee whether or not he had used his original coffee card.

And it was very effective against making the fatigue he felt completely disappear.

Another part of this he enjoyed was the slight progress he could finally see in his stats.

Since receiving the system, the only thing Vincent did not know his way about was his stats.

There was no card that could change the fate of his lame stats and he felt like it was one of the fundamental reasons why he remained so weak even though he had great skills.

Of course, it wasn't like he was expecting to go from super-weakling to overpowered without a process of some sort.

He just wished things would move a little bit fast for him.

And it hurt that it didn't. But he didn't dwell too much on that, he was super grateful that he had the system.

But when he finally saw the progress, the last piece of the puzzle finally came in place.

Vincent felt like he had finally put all the puzzles together and now has a definite hang of the system.

After one week of push-ups, squats, burpes, lunges and other exercise. This was how Vincent's stats looked like:

[STATS]

Strength: F+, Stamina: D+, Potential: C

Agility: F+, Intelligence: B.

It was small but progressive. Of it all, what shocked Vincent was the growth of his potential.

Just by being consistent for one week, his potential shot up from rank E+ to C.

It made a wide grin part his face.

Vincent dismissed the holo panel and cleaned his hair while whistling freely.

He stayed in front of the mirror.

Honestly, in contrast to what he was before there was no different but in his eyes… those chest seemed to he getting bigger.

And some abs partitioning seem to be appearing under his belly, although he had to suck in his stomach for it to be visible.

But it was really progressive.

Vincent nodded in agreement. A wide smile appearing on his face.

The most progressive of all was his stance. He could now feel it himself, after practicing the stance for straight one week as Daniel asked him to.

Vincent's punches now felt right. He practiced throwing them a lot of times with his skill in the past one week and now, he was more familiar with those skills more than ever.

School has been pretty bland for him since he started. He would always end up sleeping in school since he was so stressed at home.

His workouts routine were morning before school and evening after school, into the night.

Most time in school he was always sleeping… which was how he slept through another successful trial.

After hearing Kasem's story of how he summoned the courage to defy the bully in his class. The other seven including Levi enrolled into Kasem's mom martial art school.

Vincent could remember Levi asking him to do the same but he brushed away the question, he was very tired that day and didn't even want anyone to disturb him.

He didn't get to hear anything about it again until one day, the class was bustling because Fatty managed to ward off a bully. He was ready to strike if need be.

But the real reason why they left was because Vincent was there… after hearing that he defeated Ferdinand and RogersRoger's… to make it worse, Daniel was usually always seen around him.

…every bully in school began to get very cautious around Vincent.

That was how fatty built up his resolve… and without doing anything, the second trial was a successful pass.

For now, there was only one thing that rang in Vincent's head.

Beating Daniel in a month's time.

Funnily, this wasn't a deal known to just him and Daniel, he didn't know how but the entire school had come to know of it.

As of yesterday (Friday), Vincent became very popular in school.

News of him challenging Daniel soared throughout Mereung High School in different forms of rumor.

It brought him into the spotlight and he didn't like that.

But there was nothing he could… tension was piling up on the showdown between a spineless tenth grader and a renowned boxer… the King of Mereung himself.

But Vincent didn't care what anyone said or thought.

Opinion flew on and about, people spoke in different ways, Daniel had more supporters than he did… however it didn't matter.

Vincent was dead set on mopping the floor the face of the king of Mereung.

He had never wanted to do something so bad as he wanted to this.

Vincent was a kind kid no doubt, he was like an harmless insect but Mereung had shown him that an harmless insect like him cannot survive.

And so he was on his way to become a venomous viper!

But he knew very well that it wasn't just something that would happen… change is not always immediate.

It was gradual.

And for Vincent, defeating Daniel was a first step towards his own change.

Whatever the result of his dwell with Daniel will be, it would come to forever change his life.

Vincent strongly believed.

He looked the calender where he had marked out of exactly one month from the said date.

"7th of july…" Vincent muttered and zipped up his hoodie to thr neck point.

He turned and hurried out, the sky was still painted orange and yet to fully assemble the light of the coming sun.

A few people who were going to work very early in the morning could be seen here and there. Apart from that, every was pretty dry.

Vincent jogged his way to the Mereung park, listening to a calming piano rhythm.

This was going to be the second week of his training with Daniel… and he was looking forward to it.
