Chereads / Heir To The Mad Pirate / Chapter 12 - Iron Clad Secret

Chapter 12 - Iron Clad Secret

Hundreds of years ago, the world changed, it expanded to nearly a hundred times its original size and with this change, the world became plunged into an era of chaos and fear.

Seasons, weather behaviour, and vegetation growth were no longer as they used to be, and soon it was discovered that even the creature that inhabited the world had also begun to change.

For a long time, humans who had once dominated the world became prey to their environment.

With the lands now extremely large, traveling became a nightmare, and this saw civilizations become cut off from each other, and with the appearance of creatures that overthrew humanity's understanding, this saw the extinction of various civilizations in the world.

This time was known as the lost age. It was called lost because during this period humanity was truly lost and kept in fear and the dark by the unrecognizable world they had found themselves in.

Many had thought this pathetic and sad age would have continued forever but in the end, it came to an end when humanity discovered that they had not been abandoned by the world when it brought its changes.

Humanity discovered genkai, an energy that humans could use and make themselves stronger, faster, and able to hold their own against the monster their world had turned into.

With the discovery of genkai, humanity's thirst to conquer and explore was once more lit up and in the end, people who practiced how to use and enhance this energy were called seekers.

Putting their lives on the line, Seekers traversed the dangerous and now unfamiliar world seeking better land, treasures, other lost areas of civilization, most of the time their heart desires, and most importantly the truth of what had happened to their world.

As time passed, humanity was finally able to cross over the new gigantic mountains and forests to finally make it to the edge and see the sea.

Like the creatures they were, they celebrated their progress, and in no time, curious men who wished to sail the sea began flocking it.

It wasn't long before the world discovered that the sea was no longer the water body they had once known, but this did not worry humanity, as in no time seekers also began setting to sea.

After spending years searching for the truth and their desires on land and not being particularly successful, hearing that the sea had also turned more mysterious than it once was made it a magnet for the curious.

The chances that it could hold the truth were quite high and made it an attractive location to some seekers.

For a time the world was abuzz and slowly going back to what it had once been, but then an iron-clad secret concerning the new world and most especially genkai was revealed and this revelation made sure the world will never be the same again.

Now it was present day, and the moon was once more in the sky, surrounded by a multitude of stars and they were all looking down on the world, silently watching the various activities both evil and good as humanity will term them.

Neither the moon nor stars were moved by the sight of the boy who had been carried off his ship and now could only see the blurry image of the moon as he was taken deep underwater.

Kruxe found himself being taken deeper and deeper into the water and with each second that passed the chances that he would die became higher.

With everything that had happened, Kruxe had no time to close his mouth, so at the moment was struggling not to drink seawater and also looking for air.

Kruxe fought to get himself out of the grip of whoever held him, but he could not even interrupt the person's downward swim.

Panic filled Kruxe's mind with his nose stinging in pain as he tried to breathe and then all of a sudden something was placed on his mouth and he found air pouring into his mouth while his nose got clamped.

Kruxe struggled about a bit, but then gradually calmed down, as air once more filled his body and when he was no longer restless, the iron grip on him loosed.

Feeling somewhat comfortable, Kruxe opened his eyes which he had earlier closed in his panic, yet when he opened his eyes, Kruxe was able to barely make out the familiar image of Cletina's eyes while in the dark sea and when he was hit with the realization of what they were doing, he couldn't help but scream and push himself away from her.

That he was locking lips with Cletina had shocked Kruxe so much that he had forgotten his situation, and before he realized his error, he had lost all the air he had been fed as he screamed.

Out of air, Kruxe immediately began kicking his legs to swim upwards, but then a hand firmly gripped his right leg and pulled him down, and then before he knew it, what could only be a slap landed on his cheek and then he found himself once again locking lip with an angry Cletina, her eye enough to speak thoughts.

This time Kruxe kept tight control of his body and obediently stayed in Cletina's firm grip which thankfully loosed over time.

A few seconds later, Cletina slowly pulled her lips from Kruxe, Kruxe thankfully getting the memo and immediately sealing his mouth and the air in it.

With his body now free, Kruxe was now a few centimetres away from Cletina, and using this chance, he began straining his eyes to observe her in the dark water.

Kruxe observed a thick dark substance begin surrounding Cletina who was busy looking around the dark sea like she was scared of something approaching, but then all of sudden a yellow bright light suddenly appeared from above, gripping both their attentions.

Kruxe stared up at the yellow light in confusion not understanding what was going on, so he turned to Cletina only to see her staring up above with a fixed gaze, her eyes unmoving.

Kruxe was still lost in doubts about what was happening above when a multitude of the very familiar sounds of cannon fire finally traveled through the sea and reached his ears.

Even as the realization of what was happening above entered Kruxe's mind, he still found the roaring sound continuously pouring from above, and though he wanted to kick his legs and swim up, this time he could only wisely stay put and watch from underneath as the Breezing Ania was blasted to pieces.
