Chapter 2 - Awakening in a Parallel World

In a state of disorientation, Vikram's consciousness floated in nothingness, moving from the depths of his demise to a surreal realm. An infinite darkness, which made him question his very existence, surrounded him.

"Is this heaven? Or hell?" Vikram pondered as time seemed to lose its grip on him.

With the passing of time, a distant glow surfaced, inviting him to move closer. Driven by an unseen power, Vikram was drawn towards it, as if the surrounding space was bending and changing. At last, he found himself in front of a complex network of lights and symbols—an enchanting exhibition of vibrant energy.

The symbols surged forward without warning, enveloping Vikram in a cascade of colours and patterns. His senses danced in the kaleidoscope of this otherworldly experience, and he felt a profound connection forming between himself and the pulsating energy.

In this transformative moment, Vikram sensed the convergence of his consciousness with the energy. The symbols merged into his very being, embedding themselves within his soul. As the integration solidified, his awareness started to disappear, and a void opened ups sucking him in as he tried to make his body move but he could do nothing and his consciousness started to fade thinking he was going to die as he wished he could have one more chance to live again never to make the same mistake ever again.

Somewhere in India, Bangalore

Vikram awoke with horror in his face, finding himself in a room that seemed eerily familiar yet shrouded in confusion. As he stood up from the bed, a sense of disorientation gripped him.

"Where am I?" Vikram muttered to himself, his gaze darting around the room in search of answers. The surroundings bore a strange resemblance to a place he couldn't quite put his finger on.

As he took in the details, a mirror hanging on the wall caught his attention. Approaching it tentatively, Vikram stared at his reflection, his image staring back at him in a moment of disbelief.

Vikram stood at 180 cm tall, his frame slender yet emanating an aura of quiet strength. His face, a symphony of handsome features, showcased a sharp jawline and high cheekbones, giving him a distinctive and captivating charm. The play of shadows on his olive skin tone created a subtle contrast, accentuating his enigmatic allure. Dark, expressive eyes held a depth of experiences, hinting at a journey that transcended the boundaries of the unknown. A cascade of raven-black hair framed his face, adding to the overall allure of a man who had once graced the pinnacle of success in his former world.

"Is this me?" Vikram questioned, his voice a whisper of disbelief as he continued to scrutinize the reflection that stared back at him. The room remained silent, offering no immediate answers to the myriad questions swirling in his mind.

Vikram stood there, the mysterious words echoing in his mind. The room, once still, now seemed to pulse with an otherworldly energy. His curiosity piqued, Vikram tentatively uttered, "System? Is it the same system from the novel that's been popular with games and novels?"

Silence hung in the air, but as if responding to his query, a holographic screen materialized before him, displaying the words "Newbie Package."

With a hint of excitement, Vikram uttered, "System, open newbie package."

Lines of code materialized before him in the system panel and into his mind too, forming the foundation of a simple yet intriguing game. The code resonated with the essence of classic game development, a throwback to the programming challenges of the early 2000s. Vikram, once a pioneer in the gaming industry, found a sense of nostalgia as he examined the lines of script that represented a game.

With a determined glint in his eyes, Vikram delved into the world of coding and game design, his once dormant passion rekindled by the boundless possibilities that lay ahead. However, amidst the digital fervor, fragments of confusion lingered.

He glanced outside the window, his eyes capturing a view that seemed eerily familiar yet shrouded in mystery. As he looked around the room, the memories of his former life flooded back, the unanswered questions echoing in his mind like an unsolvable puzzle.

"Why did Naina betray me? Why did Arjun have an affair?" Vikram pondered, his thoughts a tempest of confusion and frustration. No matter how hard he tried, the answers eluded him, making him frustrated.

His gaze fell upon a calendar hanging on the wall, and a revelation struck him. The year 2000 stared back at him—a stark reminder that he had returned to a time when life was simpler and his parents were still alive, yet the echoes of betrayal resonated through the corridors of his mind.

"So, I have reincarnated at the age of 18. I hope it's not just a dream." Vikram muttered, his reflection in the mirror serving as a poignant reminder of the journey that lay ahead. The scenery outside the door beckoned, and Vikram, still grappling with the enigma of his past.
