Chapter 67 - Chapter 67: Road Encounter

Just before the convoy departed Chengguan Town, Ye Fan suddenly recalled the self-explosion truck. He promptly instructed a mobilization soldier to assume the role of the driver, take the truck along, and join the journey towards Surabaya.

Within Ye Fan's radar range, no red light spots were detected. Earlier that morning, he had ordered Xu Haoran not to halt troop operations during his absence.

The combat collective, consisting of a company and an engineer platoon, was engaged in various activities. The engineers collaborated on building the base vehicle, and the company, aside from collecting supplies, focused on clearing the surrounding countryside. Two combat platoons had already set out for battle before Ye Fan's departure.

As the convoy advanced about ten kilometers, a white spot appeared on Ye Fan's radar screen—a platoon, signified by the white color, positioned in a nearby village through which they needed to pass.

Curiously, there were no red light spots in the village, leading Ye Fan to wonder if the platoon had eradicated all the zombies. The soldiers, upon noticing Ye Fan's approach, stood at attention by the roadside, saluting as he exited the car.

The lead soldier, a scout produced the day before, conveyed, "Sir, the commander of the three platoons of the Dawn Legion's first battalion and company, and scout Jiang Hao are leading the team to exterminate the zombies!"

Ye Fan, surveying the surroundings without signs of battle, inquired about the outcome. The scout explained that despite arriving just ten minutes before Ye Fan, they found no zombies in the village, discovering only footprints indicating mass migration towards Coal City.

Concerned by this unexpected behavior, Ye Fan realized there might be changes in the zombies that he was unaware of. He instructed the scout to inform Xu Haoran to bolster security in the restaurant and police station.

The convoy resumed its journey, with Ye Fan emphasizing the importance of clearing out as many zombies as possible to alleviate future challenges.

Exiting the village, they continued along the highway, occasionally encountering overturned vehicles. The radar, always active, occasionally revealed distant red light spots and even sporadic blue light spots in concealed locations.

While many survivors still roamed the city, not everyone had found survivor camps due to the lack of communication in this perilous world. Though these survivors clung to survival for now, the impending winter would pose a significant threat.

Despite these challenges, Ye Fan postponed addressing this issue until after establishing a base. After covering over a hundred kilometers, the convoy crossed the Songjiang River in the afternoon, reaching Sishui County as their immediate target.

The convoy considered stopping for the day in a nearby village, but the soldiers noticed a peculiar gathering of zombies at the corner of a hill about three kilometers away. The blue light spots on the map indicated survivors, prompting Ye Fan's cautious approach.

As the team parked in spacious courtyards, Ye Fan ordered vigilance. Accompanied by scouts, snipers, military dogs, and the female medical soldiers, he walked towards the edge of the village. A group of survivors approached from the opposite direction, and, upon inspection, Ye Fan realized they were well-armed and wore camouflage.

A civilian Hummer pulled up, and five similarly equipped individuals emerged. The leader, a young man, eyed Ye Fan and his team with surprise. Observing the Red Alert soldiers' superior condition, he issued a cautious warning to his companions.

"Be careful, except for the one in the middle, everyone else, including the dog, is in danger," the young man advised, displaying a mix of awe and wariness towards Ye Fan and his formidable team.
