Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: New Armaments

Ye Fan rushed to the window and glanced downward, only to discover that the spot where his motorcycle had been parked had transformed into an enormous military-green off-road vehicle.

"Damn it! It's so impressive!"

At first glance, it appeared much larger than a Range Rover. Massive tires, rugged bodywork, and robust lines—all of which were favorites among men.

Following the system's routine, the vehicle would automatically be filled with gas. Ye Fan was tempted to test drive it immediately, but he restrained himself, mindful of unfinished business.

Having ascended to the position of platoon leader, he was not willing to let the supermarket attackers off the hook. Now, armed with nine soldiers, storming the supermarket was feasible, but he contemplated a more strategic approach.

With a thousand money in hand, initially intended for upgrading to platoon leader and saving for the radar, Ye Fan now deemed it more prudent to bolster his strength first.

The adversaries entrenched themselves on the second floor of the supermarket—a position easy to defend and challenging to attack. A direct assault was not the optimal strategy, especially with the presence of a mutated dog, making the situation perilous. If even Wang Hu could be injured, the other mobilization soldiers stood no chance.

Nevertheless, Ye Fan harbored an unsettled resentment and was compelled to retaliate against those who had harmed him.

With a grand total of 1,000 money, Ye Fan decided to create a scout. Dealing with adversaries hiding upstairs required stealthy attacks and assassinations, and scouts were undoubtedly adept at such tasks.

Though costing 500 gold, it seemed worth the investment.

"Nana, create a scout for me."

"Certainly, sir. Please be patient; it will take five minutes."

Five minutes proved to be a trifling wait, and as the clock struck, the bedroom door creaked open. A young soldier emerged.

When the 1.8-meter young man came into view, Ye Fan was momentarily stunned. His initial reaction was, "He's almost more handsome than me."

Indeed, the young man exuded a handsome aura, contrasting with the more ordinary appearance of the conscripts. Dressed in a well-fitted camouflage uniform, the corporal insignia adorned his shoulders—same as Wang Hu, who had been upgraded twice.

Sporting a backpack and holding a gun, the young man approached Ye Fan, stood at attention, and saluted.

"Hello, sir! Scout Xu Haoran reporting for duty!"

Ye Fan reciprocated the salute. "Tell me about yourself."

"Certainly, sir. I am proficient in firearms use, vehicle driving, tracking, surveying, positioning, and roughly familiar with the languages of five countries…"

As Xu Haoran spoke, he showcased the equipment in his bag to Ye Fan.

In contrast to the conscripts' 56-guns, the scout wielded a Type 05 silent submachine gun. Manufactured during the Qin and Han Dynasties, this compact firearm boasted a buttless structure, making it lightweight and durable. Though lacking a bayonet, it compensated with an effective silencer, rendering the gun's firing nearly inaudible even to someone standing nearby.

Equipped with low-light aiming and laser pointers, the Type 05 offered excellent firepower from the get-go with a large-capacity magazine containing 50 rounds.

Additionally, Xu Haoran brandished a Type 67 silent pistol—a weapon designed for investigators and agents. While less powerful than Ye Fan's 54 pistol, the Type 67's high shooting accuracy and built-in silencer provided a distinct advantage.

Accompanying these firearms was a multifunctional dagger, lock picking tools, windproof lighters, flares, binoculars, night vision devices, compasses, and even a climbing rope.

Ye Fan marveled at the array of tools at Xu Haoran's disposal—richer than the commander himself.

The final item in the scout's bag caught Ye Fan's attention—an unexpected grenade.

"You even have this!"

"Yes, sir. As I advance in rank, the number of grenades increases."

"Is it also refreshed every 24 hours?"

"No, the number of grenades refreshes every 48 hours."

While the 48-hour refresh seemed lengthy, Ye Fan found the prospect satisfying.

As a soldier crafted with 500 gold, Ye Fan harbored high expectations.

"How's your combat skill?" Ye Fan inquired.

Xu Haoran glanced around and pointed at Wang Hu. "This comrade is already quite formidable after two upgrades, but I surpass him. In a one-on-one fight, I can subdue him within fifteen seconds."

Wang Hu concurred, "That's right, sir. He's stronger than me. I can only match him after I upgrade to his level again. Other skills aside, his combat prowess surpasses mine."

Ye Fan nodded. "Do you know about our situation at the supermarket?"

"The system shared the information, so I'm aware."

"Can you handle them?"

"It's manageable, sir. I can complete the mission solo. Those few people there won't pose a problem, but the mutated dog could be troublesome. If you equip me with a military dog, I guarantee to accomplish the mission without injuries."

"Ah, the mutated dog, I almost forgot about that," Ye Fan muttered.

Glancing at the military dogs in the production unit, Ye Fan was reminded of their effectiveness in the Red Alert system—capable of decimating paratroopers and posing a significant threat to infantry units.

Despite the seeming incongruity of heavily armored soldiers falling to canine attacks, Ye Fan suspected that the potency of military dogs would remain formidable.

The cost of 300 gold, exceeding that of mobilization soldiers (100 gold) and army soldiers (200 gold), hinted at their superior strength, second only to scouts.

With 500 gold still in his possession, Ye Fan decided to produce both a military dog and an army soldier.

After issuing the order to Nana, another five minutes elapsed before the two units emerged from the bedroom.

First to step out was the military dog.

In the world of Red Alert, military dogs boasted black coats, exemplifying a breed known for high intelligence and a more humane demeanor. This particular specimen, while lacking the thick mane of a Tibetan Mastiff, matched its size. Exhibiting solid muscles, a tall stature, and sharp fangs, this military dog equaled the ferocity of the mutant Tibetan Mastiff.

What set it apart was the agility in its eyes, indicative of superior intelligence.

Approaching Ye Fan, the military dog extended its tongue in a gesture of friendliness, wagging its tail and letting out a bark.

In response, Ye Fan returned the salute. Having created it himself, he deemed the military dog deserving of the same respect as a soldier.

The military dog bore a cloth wrap around its back, providing a degree of fireproofing and slight bulletproofing. A brand marked its neck, displaying the number 001.

"Do you have a name? If not, I'll call you Xiaotian."

The military dog barked twice, accepting the name.

Next to emerge was the army soldier.

Dressed in a more intricate camouflage uniform compared to the conscripts, the army soldiers donned a steel helmet—a symbol of great significance, offering protection to the most vulnerable part of a soldier, the head.

Identified as the GK80 bulletproof helmet, it proved its worth in actual combat situations.

Though slightly different from the original, with a few dark lines added, all the Red Alert soldiers were armed with the Type 81 automatic rifle, commonly referred to as the Type 56 automatic rifle—an upgraded version that packed more power.

Contrary to the scouts, army soldiers were born with a magazine containing 60 rounds of ammunition.

"Sir! Army soldier Luo Fei reporting for duty!" announced the army soldier.

With a loud and clear voice, the soldier exuded the aura of an iron-blooded warrior.

Ye Fan was secretly excited, recognizing that army soldiers upgraded to three stars could even single-handedly confront tanks. While this might be exaggerated in reality, they were destined to become Ye Fan's primary force in the future.

Returning the salute to Luo Fei, Ye Fan addressed Xu Haoran, "With Luo Fei and the military dog Xiaotian, can you accomplish the mission without sustaining injuries?"

Xu Haoran stood at attention. "No injuries guaranteed! It depends on the mission effect the commander wishes to achieve. Should we eliminate them all, or pursue a more targeted approach?"

After a moment of contemplation, Ye Fan responded, "Take care of those who attacked us and the mutated dog. Leave the innocent survivors unharmed."

"Understood!"

Saluting once more, Xu Haoran exited the room alongside Luo Fei and Xiaotian.

"Let's go and take a look."

Leaving a superior soldier to guard the two wounded individuals, Ye Fan, along with Li Biao and the remaining five recruits, followed Xu Haoran downstairs.

After a painful lesson, retribution was due for those who dared to harm him!
