She scoured every shop in complete awe. She looked at every price tag and everything cost more than her car. She was not poor, but these shops made her feel like she was.
"Oh my God, everything is so...."
"Expensive?", Teddy said, "Don't worry, everything is covered for, just pick what you will need for the gala."
She sighed and smiled, this was indeed the life she was born to live. After having been in most of the shops, she finally found a shop that caught her attention, and to her bad luck, she spotted Linda and Jeremy leaving that very shop. She instantly had an idea of how she would ruin the engagement. She rushed to the store assistant and demanded the same outfit as the woman who just left.
The confused store assistant asked, "Sorry ma'am, what woman?",
Getting annoyed, Maggie retorted, "the one that was wearing a pair of black Jeans and had the purple Gucci handbag,
The assistant's eyes lit up in excitement, "Ooh, you mean Ms. King?!", this was not an irregular request, she usually got such requests from customers, but most of them usually seemed excited and were open about the fact that they were inspired by her. She couldn't understand why this one seemed so bothered by that because her face clearly showed her contempt for Linda. But she just smiled and thought, 'I guess Ms. King is truly a fashion influencer, even her enemies want to dress like her.'
Maggie hated it when she mentioned her name, and she grew even more envious that she was soo known, "Yeah, her! Just give me the damn outfit.", she snarled, and the shop assistant flinched at her behavior,
Teddy took a few steps close to her, "Uhm, Ms. Maggie, I don't think it's possible for you to get the same outfit as Ms. King..", he remarked making her angrier, and she flared, "Why? Is it too expensive? Will the black card not afford it?",
"No, it's not that it's just..." Teddy tried to explain but it was futile, her ego was bruised,
"Oh, I see, you think I won't look good in it...", she let out,
Seeing that she was getting out of hand, the store assistant tried to explain even more calmly, "No ma'am, I think what the gentleman is trying to say is that we can't sell you that dress because-"
"Oh, You can't? or you won't? Let me tell you, if you don't get me that dress, I will cause a scene....", she threatened,
Fearing the negative reception that the store would receive from her tantrums, the store assistant tossed her eyes to Teddy, and he gave her a nod accompanied by a wink.
She sighed in relief, "Okay ma'am, come this way." she led her to a rack of evening gowns, and on Teddy's signal, she pointed at a sparkly red gown, "This is the one Ms. King wore... will wear at the gala...Please go try it out..."
Maggie grinned, "Well, I don't need to because I know I am taking it, but I guess it wouldn't help to have a glimpse of how well it will look on me..", she rudely yanked the dress from her hand and went to the fitting room.
The moment she was out of sight, the shop assistant pulled Teddy to the side and whispered, "Brother, are you sure it's okay to lie to her? You know all of Ms. King's clothes are super exclusive and always ahead of the time, especially formal dresses. They are brought here directly by her aunt for her. Besides that, Ms. King was not here to buy her own gown, but she was here to pick out an outfit for her fiancé. What if you lose your job-"
"Hey, don't worry, you heard her and you saw how hysterical she was, we tried to explain but she didn't listen. She refused to listen, we both tried to tell her but she didn't give us a chance, instead, she chose to throw tantrums and threatened to cause a scene. Should she have caused a scene, you were going to lose your job, and how can I let my baby sister lose her job because of some woman-child who seems to have issues with Ms. King."
"I know right?! I wonder why she wants to look like someone she hates. Anyway, Fine, but I am telling you...when she shows up at the Gala and realizes her outfit is not the same as Ms. King's, in fact, is the commonest dress in town, and Ms. King wore it last season....you will deal with it..."
"Don't worry...I did my job, and so did you. Let her deal with her consequences...let her find out.", Teddy said shifting away from his sister and patiently waiting for Maggie to come out.
