Linda was eager to hear Sharon's plan, "Anything to make this whole process easier", she said as she sat up straight to pay more attention. Sharon also fixed her posture to look at Linda, "Okay, first, what is it that your grandparents care about the most: an heir or a husband?", Sharon asked
Linda thought about it for a while and finally said, "Well, Grammy said I must marry, but she did mention something about an heir, okay what is your plan, please don't say blind date....".
Sharon knows Linda cannot handle blind dates, they tried setting her up a few times, but it was all futile, they could never find a perfect date for her. She always found faults with all her dates.
Sharon was not sure about her next suggestion, but she had to ask, "Ofcourse! No blind dates, I know you. Okay if they want an heir, how about you just do an IVF? It's the 21st century!",
"Sharon, what kind of suggestion is that? Even though I am unlucky with romance, I still believe in a complete family, I would like my child to have a complete family, something I had a taste of before it was taken from me. So that is out of the question...", Linda's heart broke every time she thought about her parents, and given the recent intel, she now had to deal with the possibility that her father might be the cause of her greatest sadness.
Just as Sharon suspected, Linda was not fond of that idea, "Fine, fine, I get it. Alright, how about Jeremy?", Sharon asked, this time she sounded sure of herself,
"Jeremy? The Breakfast at 5th Avenue Jeremy?", Linda asked,
"Yes, that Jeremy...", Sharon confirmed
"No, no, not Jeremy Tang. For starters, he is Jeremy! and I happen to like him, I don't want to bring someone I am so fond of into my family. I need someone with a thick skin and someone I have very little relations with, I have a soft spot for Jeremy. You know my uncle won't give my future hubby a break, he will probably see him as a threat to his inheritance."
Linda knew that the only thing standing between his uncle and his inheritance was her.
"Come on...Jeremy is stronger than that, Linda you need a hus-, you know what, since You are so adamant, let's hear your plan". Sharon knew there was no point in convincing Linda to change her mind, and given her uncle's temper, she had a valid reason to worry.
Linda detailed her plan to Sharon, as Sharon heard this plan, her eyes widened with shock. She was perplexed by the idea, "You set up interviews?!? Why go through all the hoops? Why not just pick a homeless man, bathe him, and voila! You have a husband. Okay, do you have a selection criteria?"
"Well, not yet, but..."
"Linda!", Sharon exclaimed.
Linda only expected her husband to be well-mannered, handsome, and good at respecting boundaries, but Sharon had a point, so she decided to expand the list, "I just had an idea! how about you join me as one of my interviewers, you know me better?"
"Only if you promise to give Jeremy a fair chance"
"Fine, I will, he just has to come to the interview and blow my brain off," Linda said. Sharon immidiately texted Jeremy.
The two friends stayed up all night preparing interview questions. Meanwhile, Uncle John was also cooking a plan of his own. He invited three handsome-looking men to his home office and handed them a file containing Linda's personal information. He then lit a cigar and sat on his black chair,
"My source tells me that tomorrow Linda will be conducting interviews to find a husband, I believe I have prepared you guys very well. You are well groomed and Greta has organised the perfect designer suits for you. Since Linda refused my help when I went to see her, then this will be the best option, I have to get one of you married to her!",
"Mr King, what would happen if we get caught", one of the gentlemen asked,
"Well, Brett, whatever you think Linda will do, imagine that multiplied by 10. Failure is not an option. One of you must marry Linda, be my eyes and ears, make her fall in love with you. When the time comes, I will get rid of her, and her business will be yours and I will then come to collect what is mine. After that, all your debts will be erased."
"Yes Mr King!", the gentlemen responded simultaneously
"Alright, you are dismissed, except for you Jeremy Tang, stay behind", he said pointing to a tall, well-built gentleman, with short black hair,
"Yes, Mr King,", He responded
"Your case is special because Linda already likes you, you even got invited directly by Sharon. Good job, now you know what to do?"
"Ofcourse sir, I won't let you down, besides, I have a score to settle with Linda. If it weren't for her, my family wouldn't have gone bankrupt and our family business would still be in operation." Jeremy said with a hint of hatred laced in his tone
"Yes, she was so eager to rise that she didn't care for the people she trampled on, you can go ahead, it's a big day tomorrow." John said dismissing him
