Chapter 79 - Chapter 79: Towards the Gate

As soon as Cosaria and Tilda returned, the demons cheered. They had all but given up hope that the divine maiden would return. Most of them thought the warden had killed her.

Once the astonishment had settled, Cosaria immediately began to work on opening the gate again.

While Beniter was entirely confused, he couldn't get any type of answer out of Tilda. She was completely dazed. Felux wasn't much help either, as his eyes were locked on the panther beast Delrik, who had calmed quite a bit and was currently on a leash held by the gremlin twins.

"Wow, I can't believe how smoothly everything has worked out," Poto said ignorantly, for his very words jinxed their endeavor.

"Ruptis!"

The basement door smashed open into smithereens as Angelo burst through.

(Now a person may ask, 'Why burst open the door when he could just teleport?' But this is Angelo. And he is dramatic. Need anymore said?)

After Cosaria had left nowhere land, the time spell she cast slowly wore off until he eventually broke out of it and made his way back to the gate.

Picking up Yrse's sword, Grysle yelled, "Stop him!"

Like a madman, Angelo used his power to burst through all the demons. He charged towards Cosaria when the monstrous Delrik launched into action. He broke through his ties and blocked Angelo.

Cosaria said, "Delrik, no!"

A panicked Luten said, "Someone-!"

"We'll cover him. Keep focused on opening the gate!" Grysle said. Then he began making hand gestures to the twins.

Cosaria turned back to the gate as Delrik jumped at Angelo.

Angelo said, "Gladius!"

A light sword appeared in Angelo's hand, the tip pointed straight at Delrik's panther heart.

Grysle said, "Now!"

Ioul thew a green powder at Angelo's feet. Vexi threw a similar green powder in front of Grysle.

As Grysle poured a black powder over himself, he said, "εξαφανιζ́ομαι"

Then Grysle disappeared.

Ioul and Vexi said, "Κιν́ηση σκιας́"

The demonic energy activated and Angelo faded from his current position as Delrik landed onto nothing and rolled.

Angelo reappeared at the spot where Vexi threw the powder. He stood straight, confused. He turned and saw Cosaria at the gate, unprotected. He ran at full speed towards her but only managed to get a few steps before he was halted. Blood trickled down from his chest.

Grysle's invisibility faded. Yrse's sword, the one Grysle had been holding, was pierced through Angelo's chest. Angelo had run right into the invisible sword, impaling himself at Grysle's hand.

Grysle pulled out Yrse's sword from Angelo's chest.

Angelo fell back as his eyes rolled into his head.

Cosaria began chanting loudly.

As the demons stared at the gate with hopeful eyes, Grysle turned to face Tilda with an evil, triumphant smile and said, "Finally!"

Cosaria said, "ανοιγ́ω"

The gate opened with a large explosion of dark and light energy. Just as the explosion settled, it began imploding, sucking everything towards the shimmering, blinding opening.

Angelo was lying in a pool of his own blood as his lips were dry and his tongue was thirsty. His eyes stared blankly ahead. He whispered, "…No…" as the life slowly drained from his body.

In a little cottage just outside of town, Lillis (Tilda's friend) sat at the bedside of her dearest cursed Heinry. Heinry slowly awoke as the blackness began to evaporate off of his skin. He touched Lillis's hand. She raised her head. Tears spilled over as they embraced.

Outside the cottage, a black mist rose. The black cloud was pulled away, heading towards the Arquix castle.

༻✧༺

Blackness evaporated from water in the lake just outside the Arquix castle. The main water source for the Dutchy was slowly being purified of its cursed water. The evaporating water joined a bigger cloud of blackness in the sky, all making its way towards the castle.

The town was a mess with the destruction left by cursed beast. Most of the beasts had been caught, a few killed. As the blackness evaporated from off the skin of the cursed beasts, it left in its place, humans, townsfolks, family. As those who were turned, turned back, the villagers looked on in horror, hoping not to see someone they reckognized.

In the basement of the Arquix castle, the pull of the gate became stronger and stronger until it became too strong for even the giant panther Delrik to resist.

Tilda cried out, "It's going to suck all of us in!"

The gate did just that, and all the people in the room were thrown into the open demon gate.
