Isla, Penny and Augustus shared all of their classes with the Royal triplets, which meant Margaretta was able to socialise with them frequently. While Margaretta passed under the radar, the Nobles began to notice her when she sat with Augustus and the commoners - largely because of Augustus. Genevieve and Henry would often shoot dirty looks at Penny and Isla, however, they were never able to rile up either girl.
On Tuesday they had a potions class, where they would mix herbs and then enchant them with their powers. While every person could bend different elements, everyone generally had inner magic, this magic allowed them to create potions and technology.
The effectiveness of a potion was dependent on the enchanter. Magic was limited in humans, none had an unlimited amount, however, some had more than others. Augustus and the Royals were born to huge amounts of power. If a regular Noble had a well of power, they had seas of power, as did Penny and Theo. The only other Noble family with such a tantamount of power was Ursula's family, the Scarlett Duchy, the only other Dukedom in the country. It was because of this power that they had maintained their status, similar to the Royals and Windeburgs. Commoners like Penny, Theo and Isla were very rare, they were the first three to have such capacity of power in more than two hundred years. To have three appear at once had terrified various people in their country, it was also why their existences had been kept under wraps.
Penny loved potions class, she felt an affinity with potions even though her powers were largely air-based. Due to her affinity, her potions were the highest grade ones in the class, more than any Royal or Isla's. However, only Isla knew about this, as the potion grades weren't revealed to the entire class, they were only revealed in their private grades. No one asked Isla or Penny about their grades, most commoners were busy cosying up to nobility and lacked the time to care about others. It was a dog-eat-dog world.
Princess Margaretta stood in front of an array of test tubes, a different concentration of a herb in each one, as she enchanted water and then added it to each tube. Then she tried to enchant each test tube. Unfortunately, she wasn't very successful in her enchantment and an explosion occurred on each one. She pouted her lips as her siblings and other students smirked and laughed at her, however, she ignored them as her attention turned to Penny.
"Sister, you can't even complete such a simple enchantment, have some control." Prince Henry huffed with an eye-roll. Unfortunately, for him, his words were completely ignored by Margaretta who didn't even hear them as she went to Penny for advice. Shocked, he found himself rushing to the commoners whom he generally avoided at all costs, ready to tell his sister off. "Marga-"
"Shhh!" Isla snapped at him, as Margaretta and Penny's hands circled a test tube, concentrating their energies into a vial of herbs and enchanted water. The liquid glowed with them, and Penny's eyes opened, they were outside Margaretta's, and she pulled her hands away slightly, and back in, feeling the magic in their veins. A few seconds later, their hands pulled away altogether, and what was left was a golden, shimmering liquid. Margaretta squealed as she studied it, shocked by what she had created with Penny. "It looks amazing!" Isla whispered, studying it with her friends.
"It can't be that impressive." Henry's voice broke their amazement at the liquid, making all three girls sigh. They turned to him simultaneously, each with a different level of frustration shown on their faces. "I bet I could do better." He finally remarked, happy to have the attention turned back onto him.
A second later, a vial was placed in front of him and Penny. "Okay, do it then." Isla snarkily responded. "It needs to be just as good, if not better, than Penny's, oh great Prince Henry."
"If it's better, Margaretta can no longer hang out with you two." Henry jumped at the opportunity to isolate his sister from her 'terrible company'.
"If it's not, you have to spend a lunchtime every week at our table for the next year," Isla replied with anger in her eyes. "And, when you're with us, you can't demean our existences with your disgusting language. You're a stain to humanity." Her words riled up the Prince, who shook her hand in agreement. Margaretta sighed, she didn't want to be spending lunches with her buffoon of a brother.
Nobility had gathered around and viewed their agreement, they rolled their eyes, assuming a commoner could never beat Prince Henry. Henry was too far in to back out, he couldn't seem like a coward in front of all the Nobles, he had to win. It was a matter of his reputation now.
"Let the games begin." Penny cracked her neck and shook her hand with Prince Henry's too. "You're going down, chump." Her smirk and clear eyes made him embarrassed, how dare a commoner call him that!
