Torsos' confidants are a group of high-ranking subordinates who enjoy the ruler's utmost trust and dine with him in a canteen. Among them are some who are already known to me: Kaia, Gasard, Otscharsan, and Marto, as well as a few other men, such as Koros' superior.
Koro simply cannot believe that she would endanger her own brother, but according to Tosa's information, her brother is still busy helping with the repair of the airlock.
"Why do you keep doing such foolish things?" demands Koro, his fingers frantically moving over the control panel until the image of a very familiar red-haired man appears.
He looks confused. "What's going on? Is something wrong with Janine?"
I find it sweet that at least someone here is concerned about my well-being, even though I still don't understand why Tosa is receiving such sympathy.
"It has to do with that as well," Koro says, to which Gasard only looks at the young fighter questioningly.
Koro points to the young girl in his arms. A sigh escapes his lips before he continues. "Otscharsan's dear sister has messed up," he reveals. The brunette in his arms visibly flinches.
"What do you mean?" the redhead demands.
"There is poison in the food being served in your canteen!"
"Poison?" another redhead pushes onto the screen, a spoon in her mouth. The moment Koro confirms it with a nod, the petite woman turns as pale as a sheet.
"Great news, as always!" Gasard sighs.
"Does that damn beast have anything to do with it?" Kaia demands to know. She takes the spoon out of her mouth and throws it on the table in anger. "If so, I'll tear her to pieces!"
"Well, you'll have to get past her brother first," Gasard tells her, to which Kaia rests her head on her hand and pouts. The redhead turns away from the screen. "Has anyone started eating yet?" he calls into the room.
"Since neither Otscharsan nor Torsos are present, I'll spontaneously take over their task and make a remark," comes a male voice that sounds familiar to me. "We always chat leisurely, while our dearest fury devours everything right away so she can bother us poor guys in peace."
Kaia gives an angry look to the one who made the remark.
But he isn't intimidated, instead he laughs amusedly. "And since the last incident, we thought: She can go ahead and stuff herself. If something is wrong with the food, we'll notice it in her first."
A distinct growl comes from Kaia, her eyes narrowing, and she looks like she wants to jump at the guy's throat immediately.
"Lumar, please leave such things to those who can do it properly," comes another male voice. "You can tell by the lack of laughter that it doesn't come across the same as with others."
I know his name from the death zone because he once invited me to dinner there. Though, I declined.
While Kaia still glares angrily at him, Gasard shakes his head.
"Please don't eat anything yet, I need to clarify something first!" he asks the men.
The petite woman next to him stands up and wants to head in the direction from which the remark came, but Gasard stops her.
"You're coming with me!" the redhead orders, then the projection fades.
My gaze returns to Koro and Tosa, who has started crying in the warrior's arms.
The next conversation he has is with her brother. However, he withholds the reason and only says he should come and hear it from Tosa herself.
